It took 7 years for the 2008 financial crisis to come to fruition based on dumb policies from Alan Greenspan and friends. The housing side was an obvious issue as early as 2004. It can takes years for the cracks to get to the point where major failures occur and all the while they'll keep blowing smoke up your ass telling you everything is fine and the economy is strong.
