right, yeah the use case is for the spamblaster, i did not want it to have a database dependency, only api calls, and so i needed basically a memcached key store. infrequent updates, lots of lookups, cant block the main thread while doing it. maybe if it becomes too crazy i would consider deploying memcached or redis..

oh, its a setting for owners/mods right now. the menus will probably change a bit and relays that stream and do these acls will likely be a new relay price tier eventually. just testing the new backend out to see how it handles this many pubkeys.
not sure if itll be a self signup like joining a relay is, i assume thats what you mean..

yes, this kind of setup is possible on https://relay.tools aka nostr1.com
fiatjaf also has a nice relay for experimentation that automatically adjusts the acl list to only show your notes to people you follow
mainstream clients though most will leak your note when someone else reacts or replies. so its best to discourage your friends entering the relay into their relay list unless they know what they're doing (use jumble etc)

i too mirror purplepag.es on profiles.nostr1.com. the question i have for you and pablof, are you using router to grab from 'the big relays'? or just organic (inbound connections only).
it would be good to put some tags in our nip66 for this kind of relay so that a nip66 can return a set and help decentralization.

id say that not adopting outbox is preventing growth .. thats why everyone is gravitating to primal (one big relay), cause if you don't you're just noting to mostly the void.
how many real messages get stuck in damus throttling? i suppose yes you can queue and retry, but damus is the only client that does this.

The thing is. I love nostr, and I love opensource. So much that I pretty much worked too hard on it for a prolonged period. But I didn't disappear, and I didn't give up.
The thing is. The only developers left on nostr that can make change are grantees. And I have no problem with the grants, but they're on a different timeline than I am now for the last 7 months.
Prove me wrong, and zap the ever living shit out of this note? It will all go toward keeping relay.tools alive and decentralized. Or we can fade it and scale down, but we're NEVER gonna stahp.
