Only complaint I have with SolidJS so far is that it's difficult to do type assertions on the signals ( equivalent to react hooks)

My idea is that it could be built on top if the relay communication is flexible enough. most nostr libraries build the auth, limitations, and connection policies at the "new WebSocket()" level, but that makes it difficult to add additional types of behavior that a different client might want later
For example you could implement a relay blacklist at the websocket level so that it would throw an error (or make it look offline) if the client connected to a blacklisted relay. or you could extend that relay pool class to ensure it never even tries to connect to blacklisted relays. all of this is just a theory though, I still have to put it into practice to see if it works

The date based pagination that I initially wrote in BUD-02 for users to list "their" blobs on a server is pretty useless. So I want to update it to either offset-limit or cursor based pagination. I've been told cursor pagination is better ( since we have unique ids ) but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get more feedback
Also does anyone know how we could implement negentropy sync on blossom servers? the `upload` date is different on each server but the sha156 is the same across servers

REQ don't complete when they receive EOSE, its just a signal that the relay has sent all events but the subscription stays open for new events
Please steal the auth logic, that was the part I spent the most time on :)

Please rewrite the github issue without the snide remarks...
The existing v0.42.0 version is using nostr-tools and custom auth handling logic. there aren't any checks if a relay needs auth before making a REQ so it probably keeps spamming REQs while its waiting for the user to approve the authentication
The next v0.43.0 version is using rx-nostr which has checks if relays require auth. the auths still have to be manually approved by the user (or auto if an option is enabled) but this should at prevent the app from spamming REQ while the auth process is happening

There is something called Subresource Integrity, however that only ensures the files after the HTML haven't been tampered with, so still possible for someone to deploy a malicious version

One of these days I'm going to take a full week and rewrite all the code in my blossom server, and write really e2e tests for it...
It makes me nervous that myself and others are running code in production that I cobbled together without much thought or testing 😬

If its enforcing AUTH for privacy, then what key is expected to authenticate with the relay? the users key or the temporary key created for the NWC connection?
If its the users key that seems worse for privacy unless you own the relay...

Looks like this is using the nostrconnect:// URI

The client creates a new key and puts it in the URI with some metadata, then the user can open the link in amber and it will ask the user to create a bunker.
Then when the user gets redirected back to the app the connection should be ready
The code I'm using in noStrudel is from my library applesauce https://hzrd149.github.io/applesauce/signers/nostr-connect.html#initiating-connection-from-client
Although it looks like this app is using https://www.npmjs.com/package/window.nostr.js which is just as good and maybe better suited for an app like cashu.me

The issue is hashing the feed, whats the standard way to turn an XML file into a string? do you take the whole file or do you format it in a very specific way?
If you take the whole file as a raw text string, then it becomes invalid as soon as you add the signature to it because you've changed it. and if podcast apps where smart enough to remove the signature from the XML file before verifying, they would have to be specific about what they removed. because one missed char or white space and the file will be invalid :(

If the k:33333 signed the feed GUID then that at least would prove that you say you "own" the GUID, but still the feed could be modified and there is know way to know what the original one is 😞

That's a signature of nothing though. sure the pubkey signed that event but it only proves that they signed a k:33333 event, it doesn't relate to the feed at all
For example I could easily copy that feed, modify it, host it on my own site and say its your feed

The difficulty of cryptographic signatures is that they only work if your able to hash and sign the content itself. otherwise they are kind of pointless

1. Read through the NIPs and if your use case sounds somewhat like what they are designed for. look into using them, otherwise invent your own and ask for a lot of feedback from other devs
2. Pick your favorite number. your birthday. the birthday or your cat. anything as long as you are reasonably sure your not going to conflict with other developers. (you can check this by querying popular relays)
3. Draft a new NIP before your finished. IMO the purposes for NIPs is to *invite* other developers to work with you by explaining to them how your data is structured and what its used for
4. Write it as simple and strait forward as you can, don't explain why users use your app / event kind. instead try to explain to other devs how they can use your new event kind
5. IMO there really isn't a "process". the closest thing we have to a process it the requirement that at least two independent clients implement the standard. beyond that its just developers arguing on the internet...
I would say a good way to think about NIPs is "an invitation for integration". your not writing a standard that will be enforced on other developers. your writing an invitation to ask them to work with you. and generally invitations are best kept short and to the point (think of wedding invitation cards)
Then if they accept, you get to share users and both your apps get better

If your building a new kind of nostr app then pick a new kind of event. even if you change it in the future its not a big deal since there aren't any users yet and you don't have to worry about migrating data
For example I built https://github.com/hzrd149/cherry-tree a while back and used the kind 2001 since no one else was using it
I have a feeling most new devs default to kind 1 since they can easily debug it. or they are experienced nostr devs use kind 1 for "discoverability" ( so it shows up in the social feed ). either way I think the only solution to this laziness is to track down the dev and make them use their own app till they realize how bad the UX is

This is interesting, @npub1jlr…ynqn you shared an nevent1 link to the article with the ID b9f7484146715b9083004b0a353c914dd3f5c9f1e8a8cf93a5c9461898cda8e6 and plenty of relay hints
But since you updated the article and the old ID was replaced, my client wasn't able to find it
I've never seen a nostr: link break before, but I guess if you share nevent1 links for replaceable events they break 🤔

If you wanted to have signatures in RSS feeds you would have to introduce a standard way to serialize them and get a hash. and unfortunately the word standard and XML don't mix 😅
And yeah, I want to see a lot more integration before we attempt to replace RSS with nostr. there is a ton of ways nostr can help RSS without replacing it.
for example I think @npub1l2v…ajft mentioned NIP-84 (highlights) could support highlighting mp3 files. so it could be used to create a nostr native podcast clip that could be shared and commented on

Using nostr for comments and sharing (social) that is visible across apps.
I also think there is a huge opportunity to save "subscribed" feeds and playlists as nostr events

The key difference is what you mentioned, the signature. It allows Nostr events to live everywhere since thier authenticity is proven by the signature
RSS does not have this so it relies on the domain to prove its authenticity
Besides that the are functionally the same, except that RSS has a long proven track record and 10x more integrations than Nostr
That said I don't think the solution is to just copy RSS into Nostr, or replace RSS with nostr. There are ways Nostr can be integrated with RSS without replacing it and breaking all the existing RSS interactions
I also have to point out that RSS is XML, which any self respecting dev should shun like the plague :D

nsite omits the folder because they are not necessary, the nsite events are focusted on showing the latest version of the site. So keeping history would make things slower and break more

no, each nsite file is a single replaceable event with its "d" tag set to its absolute path. the nsite-manager just groups the files into folder to make it easier for humans to navigate

This is intentional, plain () are not valid in URLs and I've found that there are far fewer URLs with brackets in them then there are people wrapping URLs in brackets
for example: I really like this site (https://nostrapps.com/)
Wikipidia and some other news sites are the only ones I've seen so far that consistently use brackets in their URLs without escaping them

I think this could be solved cleanly if both the client and the extension where able to automatically switch accounts. For example
1. Client creates a draft event with pubkey1 and asks signer to sign event
2. Signer detects the event is for another pubkey and asks the user if they want to switch
3. Signer switches account and signs with other pubkey
4. Client detects signed event has different pubkey and attempts to switch
Could work... although now that I think about it there is too much that could go wrong

Relay hints in the common "e", "p" and "a" tags can help here

They don't directly tell the other user where to find you, however if the other users client looks out for them chances are they will find a good hint for you putkey that will give them a starting place to look
That said there isn't any harm in broadcasting your kind 0 (profile) and kind 10002 (relay list) to the inboxes of other users. you wouldn't need to sign a new event either since you can just re-broadcast the existing one

There is on one perfect way to get a users profile or relay list.
Most if the time the client asks the relays its connected to, but it can also be setup to know about special "lookup relays" like https://purplepag.es/

Static websites for every npub
The idea is you upload the html / js / css etc files to blossom servers, then create a bunch of events that map a path to the blob hash
e.g.
/index.html -> 186ea5fd14e88fd1ac49351759e7ab906fa94892002b60bf7f5a428f28ca1c99
Then an nsite host server can look for those events, and serve them as static files under a domain for each pubkey ( for example <pubkey>.nsite.lol )

Started tinkering with a new project that I'm definitively going to need some help with. but the idea is to build a simple static file manager for nsite stuff
The goal is to allow users to easily login with the various keys they use for their nsites and manage relays, blossom servers, and the static files

For data verifiability, as long as the link ends with a sha256 that matches what the http request returns its good.
For usability and general user experience its important that the hash is at the root of the domain and that the URL has a file extension (.jpg)

BUD-01 doesn't mention anything about 301 or 302 redirects, mostly because no one has implemented them yet. However you bring up a good point.
I would say both

are blossom compatible URLs because they contain a sha256 as the filename that presumably matches the file returned.
However only the first "www.myblossomserver" URL is a "blossom" URL because the hash is at the root path
When it comes to redirects. they shouldn't cause any issues in the protocol as along as the browser or client knows how to handle redirects (the -L flag in curl)
The only concern I have is for users. for example if I upload an image to myblossomserver.com and it gives me the URL mybloccomserver.com/<sha256>.webp
If the user opens the URL, gets redirected to s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/myawesomebucket/<sha256> (without the .webp ext) and copies the URL in the browsers URL bar. they will end up pasting a "bad" URL into their social media post and then image wont show in most clients
Again I don't think there is any harm in using redirects, but you have to keep in mind a lot of users actually copy the URL from the address bar. or modify it directly
