I don't expect things to ship to my specifications, but I do want control over my systems so I can make them work the way I want them to work.

The book predates the constitution by a decade.

In the mix of pentesting services I do, I do mobile app pentesting (technically hybrid application testing where one API is used by a mobile app, web app, etc) so I maintain a collection of rooted and jailbroken phones for work purposes. A few months ago I was looking for a new phone and I decided to look at the hardware supply chain. This seems particularly relevant now that it has become trendy in global politics to impose mandates on the tech sector.

If you have a "go-to person" at your workplace: don't undervalue them.

If you have someone that solves problems, unblocks others, answers questions outside their official responsibilities, and often gets pulled into discussions that aren't even part of their work responsibilities: make sure you recognize their worth. Ideally formally.

Far too many organizations wake up one day to a letter of resignation from that person because they did not.

Android is going to be adding developer ID verification for any developer that wants their app to be sideloaded onto more than 20 devices.

You might be wondering: how are they going to track that? Well it turns out they already have been. Google Play Protect is sending the hashes of the apps you install back to Google's servers.

Your unique device identifier, your account info, and the apps you run are stored on Google's servers, even for a local install of a sideloaded app.
