It can also be challenging to find a “good” church these days. Even the best church is a messy organization because it is made up of messy people. Yet we are exhorted not to forsake the gathering of ourselves. When we do, we slowly become like the ember that popped out of the fire onto the hearth, no longer glowing just beginning to be snuffed out. Find a church that preaches the gospel well, administers the sacraments regularly, and has a few folks that you can deeply connect with. “It is not good for man to be alone.” We need a regular diet of God’s word and community in order to go deep into faith. Everything else seems secondary, ie., a musical style, programs, location, ancient architecture or big box retail store front. Some would argue that they are fine on their own, and that works for a season. It has in my own life at times.
