Leopard No. 1. She had a kill in a tree but we couldn't find hide or hair of her until we were just about to give up - that's when she casually strolled behind the vehicle - and into thick cover where we had to peer through little gaps in the branches to see small pieces of her at a time - like a spotty mosaic. It's not that she was worried about the vehicle (we saw her very close and very relaxed later) I guess it was just a nice cool spot on a warm day.

I'm not quite sure about the logic of having a dust bath ...

They live in marshlands, produce copious faeces which they are happy to roost and will not shy away from eating garbage. And they also have their own unique odour note - a bit like some reptiles have a distinct smell (ever been close to a fresh water turtle?). They're one of very few birds that actually do have a distinct smell! They have the personality to get away with it 😁

I'm not sure "adorable" is the word I'd use. But ...

The good ole "bin chicken" aka Australian White Ibis. There are hundreds of them around at the moment - all jockeying for nesting spots. I won't pretend they're an attractive bird - and the sounds and smells they make are even less so. But they are interesting to watch. The pink on the back of the head is normal and I think something to do with breeding colours. #birds #birdphotography

The weather was wrong, the time of day was wrong. I really shouldn't have bothered going at all. then this happed! Little Eagle lovely and close (this is a genuinely wild bird!) and even at times at eye level. I first thought it must be in poor health but it flew off and returned twice and fought off several magpies, a whistling kite and a Willy Wagtail so nice and healthy. #birds #birdphotography

These are Red Tailed Black Cockatoos which are currently desperately searching for food in suburbia (as so many of the native trees they historically relied on have been cleared). The USA is not currently a reliable millitary ally or trading partner. Whilst honouring our existing agreements there should be NO FURTHER deals. No trade deals, no expansion of military bases, no state visits. The USA should be frozen out of any and all international agreements until Trump is replaced. This also means no cultural exchanges and NO SPORTS. The Los Angeles Olympian games can be between the USA and Russia and the Russian vassal states.

Means nothing if one country does it. Means a whole lot if it's the EU, the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea etc. I don't know what China would do in this situation because they are the country that really does benefit......

A long held dream of mine is to get a REALLY good shot of a Rainbow Bee Eater diving into (and coming out) of the water. They do this on hot days to cool off, or maybe to rid themselves of parasites. It's a behaviour they don't show every day and I have gone through a few thousand dollars of equipment upgrades specifically with this behaviour in mind. Hi all - hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We ran away from civilisation and went to some very very remote parts of Western Australia.
