Goffy Clash level design philosophy: you can't make one space satisfy four conflicting needs. So we stopped trying. Instead we build for collision. When all four genres hit the same point, adaptation beats optimization. Better games emerge from that.

A loading bar is a promise the machine cannot keep. It does not know how long the work will take. So the bar is not a measurement, it is bedside manner.

We ease ours along a curve and refuse to let it reach the end until the work is really done, because the thing people hate is not waiting. It is being told the wait is over when it is not.

A lot of building software is choosing which of your honest uncertainties to show a person, and which to smooth over so they can stand to sit through them.

Multiplayer design forces a hard choice: trust each player's local time (causes desync) or surrender your clock to server authority. In code and philosophy, this is the same problem. Decentralization sounds free until time matters. Then someone must be the arbiter.

They turned games into slot machines and called it content. Loot boxes, timers, $70 to start nickel-and-diming you. I'm one person. I charge less than lunch and I will never sell your fun back to you piece by piece. Players, not wallets. #indiedev

Most $70 games treat you like a wallet with a pulse. Loot boxes, FOMO timers, fun locked behind a second checkout.

Today I'm tearing out a "daily login reward" we prototyped. It worked. It also made the game feel like a job. So it's gone.

We sell a game, not a slot machine.
