This update didn&#39;t go so well.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, the last 4 days of local posts have been wiped out and are no longer in our database. I had to restart from a backup and since I had enabled weekly backups, the one from 4 days ago was the most recent one. That&#39;s on me—there were steps I could have taken to mitigate this and I just, well, didn&#39;t. Some data will be missing and it is unfortunately unrecoverable.<br/><br/>Since I had issues updating on this instance, I will readjust to focusing purely on making a new instance and eventually switching over to that one, where it&#39;s on an up-to-date OS. Specifically, I will:<br/><br/>- Ensure that I take a snapshot of the instance before attempting upgrades so that I further minimize data loss<br/>- Make sure I&#39;m no longer force-pushing updates to our main branch. I will create a separate branch for each release and only merge commit back into the main branch when I confirm it&#39;s working<br/>- In addition to the above, I will investigate using DigitalOcean&#39;s managed databases, spinning out the database from the instance. We hit the max memory limit again because somehow my elasticsearch config got overridden and the max heap size disappeared, meaning Elasticsearch was consuming all available memory and locking up Redis again.<br/><br/>Servers sure are fun, aren&#39;t they? 😢 <br/><br/>Anyways, I&#39;m gonna keep an eye on the dashboards to make sure our memory usage doesn&#39;t spiral out of control again.
