I collected my writing on Balaji Srinivasan's ideas into a book I called Bespoke Balajisms - Exploring the thinking of Balaji Srinivasan through 100 ideas. I will provide links to dowload, read or buy the book below.

The book collects important mental models of Balaji Srinivasan, a tech founder and an investor, who is now a well-known public intellectual beyond Silicon Valley, in an era, when the tech tribe became a global phenomenon.

Most of the book, 90 balajisms, comes from a series of blog posts called Daily Balajisms I wrote on my substack and published on X. The rest is the “bespoke” part – 10 ideas I crafted based on Balaji’s thinking. I divided Balaji’s mental models into Bold Balajisms, Based Balajisms, and added my two cents with Bespoke Balajisms. Bold Balajisms have a technical vibe and Based Balajisms are more political.

Let’s hope that efforts to create social credit system with a human face will fail in the West.

We have experienced physical lockdowns during Covid, and they came without warning.

And soon we might experience digital lockdowns, says Balaji. Also, without much warning.

When Cyprus, an EU member country, had their banking crisis ten years ago, they enacted so called bail-ins of banks.

Slavoj Žižek often mentions how in 1968 the Western Left lost faith in the USSR, after the Warsaw Pact countries invaded Czechoslovakia and crushed the Prague Spring (Dubček’s attempt to create socialism with a human face).

An attempt at a digital lockdown might be a similar moment – when today's Western progressives (baizuo) lose faith in the US empire - after seeing their first-world problems vanish suddenly, and be replaced by the third-world problems of financial repression.
