I agree. There are hard working councillors from most parties, whose dedication to their local community shouldn’t be judged by the wider national political picture.

But the reality seems to be in 2026 that:

a) few voters engage with their local councillors
b) few know what their local council is responsible for (often confusion between district, county and constituency)
c) media not interested in local political issues

All of which amplifies the national view.

I agree. There are so many assumptions and expectations made of those on low incomes which are completely unfair and entirely based on prejudice.

I genuinely don’t recall having ever had something from a political party with my address on. Even if they get the postage paid, I assume they still have to pay the printing cost. I live in a densely populated ward that historically nearly always returned Labour councillors but in recent years it’s entirely Green for local elections. Leaflets are always hand delivered by activists here, they knock on doors. Election only 2 weeks away and only Green Party leaflet so far

So I discovered #BartonBroad in #Norfolk this afternoon. I’d been a few times to the lovely pub, the White Horse Inn, in the nearby village of Neatishead before, but always in the dark.

I was blown away by how clear the water was. The reflection of the clouds on the broad was so crisp and clear.

Basically just open all your windows for about 10 to 15 mins - Germans do it all year round.

Does it work? Yes. Gets rid of stale air and water vapour.

Are other methods available? Trickle vents in windows, air bricks and extractor fans all help too.
