What he deduces from it, however, is wide of the mark.<br/><br/>Firstly, I do not maintain that ‘the worker (whoever he is) is fitted only for obedience’. What I do maintain is that most workers (like most other people) have supported and defended authoritarianism and servility in the past, do so in the present and that, on the evidence of this, they will do so in the future. Every social upheaval so far has resulted in either the survival of the old authority or the creation of a new, and as far as I can see this is the inevitable outcome of all organized collectivities—no matter what names they are given. Bill Dwyer, like his utopian forebears, has confused ‘the worker’ as he is with ‘the worker’ as he would like him to be. He is, if you will pardon the philosophical pun, trying to deduce an ‘is’ from an ‘ought’.<br/><br/>Because, however, this has been and is true of most workers, it by no means follows that all workers are incapable of transcending authoritarianism and becoming anarchists. With most people the complaint is the way the score is being compiled. This they want their politicians to bring into balance. Thus the politician has rapidly been acquiring a non-propertied power-holding stock in the ‘system’.<br/><br/>The great dodge of our time is “society”, a sociological dream-concept, in whose name we dump our responsibility as individuals. “Society”, we say, is to blame. for any evils which beset people, yet an investigation would reveal a number of real humans with much guilt attached. Atheists and other seculars have made sure that our mental spaces are filled with many other trivialities and ideas that we have no need for anything else. We already have so many idols and subjects of worship that God as such has disappeared or greatly marginalized, to just name a few, humanity, rights, holy progress and Science.<br/>Existentialists of the 19th and 20th centuries were heavily influenced by Max Stirner, and here we will briefly examine Karl Jaspers’ idea of God and unexpectedly and with joy will find how a true God (in contrast to our modern falsehoods) would have contributed to freedom. Philosophers as a group, are indeed part of the priesthood of the state, and they have replaced the old priest class (together with the rest of intellectuals). The main purpose of this parasitic class is to provide the so-called intellectual and spiritual cover for the bandits that rule us. Either knowingly or instinctively, they have tried for many years to bury the most subversive idea ever, the idea of dialectical egoism. But, even so, the glimpses of it shines through other more benign and “acceptable” projects of philosophy and thought. Karl Jaspers is an interesting example.<br/>God’s historical evolution can be told in this way: material God (idol, rain, sun) evolves to immaterial or ideal God (Jehva, Jesus, Allah) to secular God of deists and humanist (laws of nature, science). Then we reach the God of Feurbach (the “Human”) and the late stage Gods with different names: progress, nature, social justice, sustainability and so forth. We can in the meantime see a parallel idea of God, which will open up a refreshing alternative for spirituality and self realization for all who seek these.<br/>God is not an object. It cannot be empirically proven. We infer the existence of one thing from the existence of some other thing. When we see smoke, we look for fire, when we see footprints, we look for the feet. We could induce thing after thing, logically we can prove objects that are in this world, but we cannot infer the existence of anything other than the world. He is therefore not rationally provable. Authentic God cannot be a being among beings either. <br/>This latest liability to infer God as an object, or prove its existence leads to another way of thinking. We call it the world as God and its laws and its beauty. Such is the belief that the organisation and order of the world, the good in the world is God, but:<br/>“.. God, the benevolent creator, exists, we must call to mind all that is ugly, disordered, base in the world.. This gives rise to fundamental attitudes for which the world is alien, frightening, terrible, and it seems as plausible to infer the existence of the evil as of God.” <br/>Kaspers starts building his idea of God from the limits of the deistic conception as described above. The world as God is obviously imperfect and unfished. It is also interesting to parallel the world’s imperfection to imperfection of our understanding of its lwas (subject I will come back to in a critique of historical materialism). <br/>God is not an object of the world, it also cannot be an object of knowing or understanding. What do we mean by object of understanding? In the deist’s view the world was not the God, but the laws were. It is the laws, or our understanding of the universe was the God. As for example, the famous phrase of Laplace when asked about the God in the solar system: &#34;I had no need for that hypothesis.&#34;. <br/>Assuming God as the order and laws of the worlds, is a fruitless enterprise. It confronts the problem of evil and cannot reconcile us with it. The God as Kaspers said, then is also or at the same the evil.<br/>God is thus not an object of empirical knowledge or knowable or logically provable. God is. What is then this act of being? Being is freedom and the essence of this freedom is being free from the world, rejection of alienation and capture by outer forces. Being thus becomes my own and is my own. In this sense, “God never becomes a tangible object in the world and this means that man must not abandon his freedom to tangibles, authorities, powers of the world; that he bears responsibility and he must owe his decisions to himself.”<br/>Kaspers proposes also that God is not a definable entity, it is in the limit of knowledge, and the efforts to capture it in dogma, doctrine or metaphysical system turns it to an idol, or an object of to be known (and proven?), within the world. The opposite holds, i.e. God is unknowable, and a creative nothing, very akin to the unique. God is freedom, to be responsible for oneself. <br/>A valid question is what about this new God? Are not I (or indeed Karl Jaspers) inventing a newer spook? A net loss for me if that would be true. Is this true? <br/>The answer is a mild no. The concept of God described as unknowable creative nothing is incapable of becoming a path to alienation. This God is the individual’s own freedom and discovery. There is no content in it, the content of it is created in the marginals of ordinary life, at the crisis, illness and/or death. This is to say when the unique deals with life&#39;s hardships authentically. Speaking during an emergency session, Sachs framed the crisis as a test of international law itself, not leadership politics. He traced decades of U.S. regime-change actions, questioned the legality of force and sanctions, and warned of catastrophic consequences if UN rules collapse in a nuclear age.<br/><br/>Since 1947, United States foreign policy has repeatedly employed force, covert action, and political manipulation to bring about regime change in other countries. This is a matter of carefully documented historical record. In her book Covert Regime Change (2018), political scientist Lindsey O’Rourke documents 70 attempted US regime-change operations between 1947 and 1989 alone.<br/><br/>These practices did not end with the Cold War. Since 1989, major United States regime-change operations undertaken without authorization by the Security Council have included, among the most consequential: Iraq (2003), Libya (2011), Syria (from 2011), Honduras (2009), Ukraine (2014), and Venezuela (from 2002 onward).<br/><br/>The methods employed are well established and well documented. They include open warfare; covert intelligence operations; instigation of unrest; support for armed groups; manipulation of mass and social media; bribery of military and civilian officials; targeted assassinations; false-flag operations; and economic warfare aimed at collapsing civilian life.<br/><br/>These measures are illegal under the UN Charter, and they typically result is ongoing violence, lethal conflict, political instability, and deep suffering of the civilian population.<br/><br/>The case of Venezuela<br/><br/>The recent United States record with respect to Venezuela is clear.<br/><br/>In April 2002, the United States knew of and approved an attempted coup against the Venezuelan government.<br/><br/>In the 2010s, the United States funded civil society groups actively engaged in anti-government protests, notably in 2014. When the government cracked down on the protests, the US followed with a series of sanctions. In 2015, President Barrack Obama declared Venezuela to be “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.”<br/><br/>In 2017, at a dinner with Latin American leaders on the margins of the UN General Assembly, President Trump openly discussed the option of the US invading Venezuela to overthrow the government.<br/><br/>During 2017 to 2020, the US imposed sweeping sanctions on the state oil company. Oil production fell by 75 percent from 2016 to 2020, and real GDP per capita (PPP) declined by 62 percent.<br/><br/>The UN General Assembly has repeatedly voted overwhelmingly against such unilateral coercive measures. Under international law, only the Security Council has the authority to impose such sanctions.<br/><br/>On 23 January 2019, the United States unilaterally recognized Juan Guaidó as “interim president” of Venezuela and on 28 January 2019 froze approximately $7 billion of Venezuelan sovereign assets held abroad and gave Guaidó authority over certain assets.<br/><br/>These actions form part of a continuous United States regime-change effort spanning more than two decades.<br/><br/>Recent United States global escalation<br/><br/>In the past year, the United States has carried out bombing operations in seven countries, none of which were authorized by the Security Council and none of which were undertaken in lawful self-defense under the Charter. The targeted countries include Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and now Venezuela.<br/><br/>In the past month, President Trump has issued direct threats against at least six UN member states, including Colombia, Denmark, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria and of course Venezuela. These threats are summarized in Annex I to this statement.<br/><br/>What is at stake today<br/><br/>Members of the Council are not called upon to judge Nicolás Maduro.<br/><br/>They are not called upon to assess whether the recent United States attack and ongoing naval quarantine of Venezuela result in freedom or in subjugation.<br/><br/>Members of the Council are called upon to defend international law, and specifically the United Nations Charter.<br/><br/>The realist school of international relations, articulated most brilliantly by John Mearsheimer, accurately describes the condition of international anarchy as “the tragedy of great power politics.” Realism is therefore a description of geopolitics, not a solution for peace. Its own conclusion is that international anarchy leads to tragedy.<br/><br/>In the aftermath of World War I, the League of Nations was created to end the tragedy through the application of international law. Yet the world’s leading nations failed to defend international law in the 1930s, leading to renewed global war.<br/><br/>The United Nations emerged from that catastrophe as humanity’s second great effort to place international law above anarchy. In the words of the Charter, the UN was created “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind.”<br/><br/>Given that we are in the nuclear age, failure cannot be repeated. Humanity would perish.
