Thinking of Joy in Times of Genocide

I encountered the writing of Joy (npub1nv8…za59) a 23-year-old Palestinian writer and student who wrote her book from tents https://yugoslawomenplus.net/2025/10/05/thinking-of-joy-in-times-of-genocide/

You can access and read her book "By My Pen" for free here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RR5BMFCjmPoTcwLItxVrtrzaf0WJ4n4n/view
but please consider making a book donation https://www.chuffed.org/project/evacuate-joy This will help Joy to evacuate from Gaza and pursue her writing and studies elsewhere.

"Girlhood At War" made it home!

Unlike anything I’ve written before, this book is a personal story about growing up during Serbia's war against Kosovo and about finding myself, at 14, translating for US NATO troops in its aftermath. (Yes, the young girl in these pictures is me.)

You can order a copy through your local library. Many thanks to friends who have already done so in small bookshops in Lima, Dublin and Istanbul :).
