Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, scallion, sesame seed, sour cream, and scallion. Noodle hydrated very well. – standard gauge, round shape. The broth is a tangy and slightly earthy one. Definitely had that beet kind of thing going on. The surprise here were the peas which hydrated better than any peas I’ve found in instants – bravo – they’re usually chalky and even crunchy. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 6925303791254.

Found this at our local Safeway the other day and honestly not feeling too confident on this being a showstopper given the history of this brand in my reviews. The little thing that says ‘includedes real deal chili crunch’ is a little odd. This could be good. Or not. Let’s try it out.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added mint, sesame seed, crushed red pepper, sauteed chicken, and Mae Mai. The noodle initially was way off the mark – ten minutes later? Not bad. The broth without the chili crunch sachet was a funky chicken, but with it it was actually quite nice. If only the noodle had been better. Also – I couldn’t find anything that ‘crunched.’ Perhaps not as real a deal – oh wait – the vegetable did crunch, but that’s not chili crunch… That being said, I did actuaslly like it. I loved how the oiliness interacted, the light Sichuan pepper flavor. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 815055011846.

Well happy Halloween. I must thank my wife and mother in law for finding these. NONE of our Walmart stores locally have them and they don’t even sell them on the Walmart website – it’s VERY irritating. On eBay they wanted an atrocious price for them. I think the price on Amazon was atrocious enough. So yeah; four Walmarts and a wasted afternoon over 3 weeks after they were supposed to be out. We didn’t get the two BBQ limited editions around here either which was equally irritating. Anyways, this sounds really interesting. Let’s cook.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added chicken, scallion, sesame seed, Kari Kari chili crisp, and pepper thread. The noodle is very soft in this one – leaning towards mushy but still holds its own. The flavor is a spicy garlic; not getting the most chicken sense of it. It’s good – tasty and definitely a deep reddish blood color. Not bad and one of the best of the limited edition range. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662409091.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, scallion, crushed red pepper, and sesame seed. Noodle is of a gauge and consistency that lends itself well to this one. The sauce for it adds oiliness which works nicely. There’s a definite strong level of heat, and then this kind of light sweet and soy sauce flavor while lingers in the background. Finished (click to enlarge). Added crushed red pepper, chicken, sesame seed, and scallion. Macaroni did just fine even though following directions caused the water to boil over in the microwave. The sauce is plentiful and tastes like a lighter version of Buldak Corn. It’s sweet and definitely a corn flavor. If you’ve had the noodle version, just think of that and have macaroni pasta instead of noodles. Not too hard to figure out how that will be. Not bad, not earth shattering. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Been holding off on this one until I had some seafood – and now I do. This is a spicy seafood stew called jjambbong – and they tend to be among my favorite varieties from South Korea. I think I found this one at Boo Han Market in Edmonds, Washington across from 99 Ranch Market. Well, let’s begin.
Iga Natural Singil-dong Spicy Jjamppong – South Korea
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains shrimp, chicken, squid, beef, pork, and shellfish. To prepare, add vegetables, freeze dried block, and noodles to 400ml boiling water. Cook 3~3 1/2 minutes. Add in remaining sachets. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, shrimp, scallion, fishcake, sesame seed, and pepper thread. Noodle is soft and thick – just right for this dish. The broth is very muddy which is so nice – robust and deep. A strong seafood flavor with a good seafood flavor. The sheer amount of seafood and veg in this one is truly exceptional of excellent quality. The spicy level is adequate but not overbearing. When I initially heard about immi a few years ago I was very curious. A noodle infused with pumpkin seed flour? I want to try that! What followed was disappointment; the noodle was so chewy and rubber band like it squeaked on my teeth. More recently, I saw their product at a Dollar Tree store and decided to give it another try with about the same results. This caught the attention of the founder of the company. He persoinally contacted me and offered to send me the latest iteration of his product range; one newer than what I’d found at Dollar Tree, in hopes I would find it more to my liking. At the date of this video being posted, the next post will be a review of that product and how I feel about it. If I like it, I’ll let you know and if I don’t, I’ll let you know as well. I reviewed these a long time ago and found the noodle to be very rubbery – low score. More recently, I found them again on discount so I thought I’d give them another try and had the same results. Well, that prompted the owner of the company to reach out and let me know that the one I found at Dollar Tree was not the most recent iteration. He told me the new version is much better and asked if I’d give them a chance for redemption. I don’t like handing out low scores; I like to share the best of the best when I can honestly do so. Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle block in 2 cups of water for 6 minutes (8 minutes for softer – which I’ll be doing). Transfer ramen and 1 cup water to a bowl. Add in sachet contents and stir 1 minute. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added chicken, egg, sesame seed, scallion, and crushed red pepper. The noodle has been an issue in the past, but not here. In previous versions, it could be so rubbery it would squeak on ytour teeth. While it is soft, it does have a light chew to it and it’s got a rustic feel – it works. The broth has a nice and rich chicken flavor. Congratulations – this version is decent! Happy to see! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 850016318053.

So cold I couldn’t handle being in there – no clue why – I’d think it’d be expensive to keep it so damn cold. Anyways, ramen snack mix. Let’s do this.

Finished (click to enlarge). Nothing added. So I like the peanut and the cashews, the sesame sticks as well. The corn nuts and ramen pieces aren’t bad but lower on the list of likes. What is awful are the edamame which are really not of a wonderful texture – wish there was a way to filter them out. The flavor is a sweet, salty, and soy affair. It’s honestly pretty good except for the edamame, and there’s a lot of it in there which was very disappointing. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 194346393688.

What we have here is a hallowed legend in the spicy world – and this one is interesting! It came to me via Hunny’s Ramen – a purveyor of all things Buldak. This is the version sold in China- possibly Taiwan as well, I’m not sure. Nothing like a food product that features bombs on it. Well, once more into the breach? Check the mukbang at the bottom where my son Miles joins me – curious how he will tolerate this one!
Samyang Buldak 3x Spicy Artificial Hot Chicken Flavor Noodle – China
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle for 5 minutes. Drain, saving 8 spoons water (8 * 15ml = 120ml). Add in noodle, reserved water, and liquid base and stir fry 45 seconds. Finally, sprinkle garnish atop and enjoy!

Well, if you can scarf down a whole bowl of this, I won’t give you that badge of honor – UNLESS! Unless you’ve not had any Buldak for a little while. The last mukbang we did was Cream Carbonara two days ago. That much lesser amount of Buldak heat I wager was enough to add tolerance for me on this one. I sailed through it pretty easily. Sure, my nose dripped, my brow sweated, my mouth burned. But it wasn’t ‘punch me in the face and send me to the corner’ heat. But heat is very subjective. I’m not saying it isn’t hot by any stretch of the imagination – this would literally kill my wife and my son was beaten down enough by it to only give it 2 stars – he’s generally only given out 5 stars every time. #10: mi ABC Selera Pedas Spicy Beef Stir-Fry Noodles – Indonesia
The noodles have a nice gauge – they seem slightly wider and more chewy than most instants. The flavor was a surprise – a nice beef taste with a savory hit and then the spiciness. It’s really quite spicy – worthy of a mukbang. Original review | Mukbang | Get it here

I’ve ben trying to get this one for a very long time and the folks at Paldo finally sent me some – thanks! This one was very tasty and very hot, although I remember the first time I tried it many years ago and it blew my head off. These days it’s not too hot to handle for me, but it’s still plenty hot. #7: GB Company The Devil Of Fire Ramen – South Korea
This one was sent in by The Fat Hipster from YouTube – thanks! While incredibly spicy, it’s definitely not the spiciest I’ve had, that’s for sure. But it’ll burn you really good. What’s more, it sports a good noodle and a nice flavor to it which is excellent. Original review | Mukbang | Get it here
#6: Liangchengmei 30S” Hot Bird Noodle – China
Thirty seconds to cook, featuring fresh noodles. This company is coming up with some really unique and delicious varieties which I thoroughly enjoy. This one is very reminiscent of another one on this list with a chicken. Original review | Mukbang
#5: Mamee Shinsegae Ghost Pepper Spicy Chicken – Malaysia

#4: Mamee Shinsegae Ghost Pepper Kari Lontong – Malaysia
Here we’ve got a Malaysian variety with a heat like no other. This is definitely the strongest curry on the market right now – at least that I can find. #3: Samyang Foods Buldak 3x Spicy HOT Chicken Flavor Ramen – South Korea
Every year, Buldak seems to get a little hotter. If this is 3x, that’s 13,200 SHU. This one was pretty tough to get down – but I did it. Nice flavor and very, very hot. If this is just out of your ballpark, I can highly recommend the tomato Buldak – that one’s far less spicy and absolutely delightful. Original review | Mukbang | Get it here
#2: Daebak x TNTCO Carolina Reaper Spicy Chicken Flavour – Malaysia
A couple of years ago, a former champ of the list featured Carolina Reaper pepper. It’s a formidably spicy pepper – one I generally worry about when I have to meet up with it. It’s not only hot for the mouth, but it does have a tendency to cause the gut a little trouble! Definitely not for the weak! Original review | Mukbang
#1: Isoyama Shoji 18禁カレーラーメン (Age 18 Prohibited/Restricted/Only La-Men Curry Taste) – Japan
The only variety I’ve NOT been able to conquer. Fail. Twice. First off, I think these taste awful outside of the violent spiciness; like burnt plastic curry. What’s rough is that this calls for 700ml water which I believe is the top end of any instant I’ve had. Not only that, you’d think that would dilute to the point of almost bland but it most certainly does not. I managed 1/4 to a 1/3 each time of trying this. The sheer size of the bowl plays a psychological game with you. It’s mean. I should note that this does still exist as a bowl variety last I checked, but it’s ridiculously expensive through the only place I’ve seen it – around $50. Culley’s World’s Hottest Ramen 2.0 – New Zealand
It should and must be noted here that this is the new champ. I just released this list shortly ago and hadn’t tried it yet. I really don’t have any doubt that it will be the reigning champ as long as it’s on the market as well. The full post is here and it’ll knock your socks off. It transcends spicy – all other on this list are sugar water in comparison. My warning at the beginning of my top ten video is about the others, but especially about this one. Culley’s World’s Hottest Ramen – New Zealand
This was hard. The only reason I was able to finish it was because of the size. There are some issues with the directions on this one and I think they could be changed without effecting flavor/heat level. Basically, cook the noodles, drain, add in boiling water and sachets and stir. This was conquering the worm for me. I pounded it and then it pounded me. Eight hours of capsaicin cramping – oh so bad. Felt like an alien was going to pierce its way out of my stomach – no joke. Plus I went through a phase where I was tingling all over, slightly numb, and kind of cold. I either went into or teetered on the edge of being in shock – endorphin land to be sure. I should note on this one that there’s going to be a version 2.0 of this I’ll be reviewing very soon and it sounds like it’ll be lethal! Stay tuned! Mukbang – Original Review
My Thoughts On SHU
‘Oh man, my face is on fire!’ ‘Dude, that’s not even hot.’ Two people can eat the same thing – one may be running for something to put out the fire while the other barely tastes it. That’s where my wife and I are at. The Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) is a way to measure spiciness; a very ridiculous way. The idea is that a glass of spicy and a glass of water are mixed. Does it will taste spicy? That’s 1 SHU. Repeat this, diluting each time. Now, products claiming thousands, hundreds of thousand or millions of SHU aren’t using this method; it would take far too long. Samyang Foods, makers of the Buldak line had this to say in an interview about how they measure –
The Math
SHU (Scoville Heat Unit) is a measurement of the spicy heat of chili peppers. First, we measure the concentration of capsaicin and dehydrocapsacin by using the HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). Then, we measure scoville heat units by using the equation below. (Although there is no official rule of calculating SHU, we have used the equation which is generally used.)
SHU = ( Dehydrocapsacin conc. X 0.82 + Capsacin conc. ) X 16

As far as I know, there is no ‘SHU Police’ or group that has a stamp of approval on SHU claims. What’s funny is that people often balk that Buldak’s spiciness – the original is just around 4,000SHU – and they find it’s hotter than things they try that purportedly are 400,000SHU or more. That’s because as far as I can tell, Samyang does take this seriously and more importantly, they’re being honest about it.
I would love to see an industry group that would act as a ‘seal of approval’ – like a seal that companies could get to verify their SHU claims were true. I could sell you a bottle of water right now that said it was 1,000,000SHU and charge $10 for it and you’ll find it’s not spicy at all. Will the SHU Police cry foul? Nope. A seal showing that what’s in there is as spicy as it says it is would be a really great thing for consumers. Anyways, that’s my thought on this matter. Generally, things that say they’re spicy in an ultra-spicy class usually are.

After about a decade of having the main tool for my reviews other than instant noodles, my old workhorse computer is in desperate need of replacement. Editng images, rendering video and lots more go on. When I asked for donations initially, people were asking if I just wanted a new computer to play Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto. Here we have the final iteration of the Zoey cups. We started with the Korean version, then the plain jane Shin, and now the special Burger Hero. I could see consumers being very confused – I certainly was. Anyways, let’s begin.
Nongshim KPop Demon Hunters Shin Ramyun Zoey Burger Hero – United States
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains beef. To prepare, add in sachet contents and fill to line with room temp water. Microwave 3.5 minutes at 1000W. Finally, stir and enjoy!

A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.
Another dry base powder.
Loose bits and seasoning from the cup.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added cheese, Mae Mai garlic and onion topping, sesame seed, scallion, and crushed red pepper. Noodle came out pretty well. The broth was alright – like a softer take on Shin with some hamburger-esque notes. The little meaty chunks were meaty, however at their core could’ve sat a little longer. Found that if they did, they softened a bit and has some texture. All in all, it was alright but nothing I would seek out other than to review something new. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, fill to line with boiling water and cover 4 minutes. Drain, saving about a tablespoon of water. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
