On my side the feeds has a proxy/protection that makes my browser wait a few seconds, something similar to anubis. So I think the PI crawlers are getting flag as [not welcome]-bots on that podcast server.

I would start with:
Add de P20 namespace

<guid>

And then try to improve:
<itunes:explicit>No -> true/false
Add publish date
Apple Category from Literature to Books
Podping / Auto submit to the Index

Some of the feeds are already on the PI so I think it a matter of talking to them, see if there is a git based system to help. And if the don't have it, pointing them to the right information, most if trivial stuff.

I was asking to be sure that this has not been tried before.

Do you know the project LibriVox [1] ? It's "Free public domain audiobooks" with RSS capabilities.

There are some audiobooks already on the PI [2], but not all. And some via iono.fm feed instead of librivox.org/rss/.
This could be a good place to improve the medium tag adoption (CC Sam Sethi :pc2red: ⁂ (npub1thg…zq23) )

I've not found the infrastructure open sourced to do some PR, but they are Public Domain.
So I think we should contact [3] them to help them adopt P20 tags on their feeds.

I thought that podroll has always used a Remote Item.

And Remote Items have the feedUrl as optional and only the feedGuid is required.

Evens so I started using also the feedURL to help the apps without the resources to look up the GUID.

Pero SL depende de la licencia. Otra cosa es que busquemos una nueva palabra o definición a software con licencia libre y valores mas allá de como se puede usar el código.

No aspect-ration attribute, but the purpose can be "coded" like banner/1by1, banner/16by16 or banner/TrueFans
And having in the namespace what that actually means/expect

VS

The tag as it's proposed with the aspect-ratio attribute and a list of desired values from different hosting/players that want to implement it.

I think it could help if most apps and hosting devs could reply a poll on Github about what they see most doable one the 2 proposed solution are finalized given a fixed time-frame (so it not get stalled again).

I don't see a better solution that a real decentralized platform as Mastodon (one that the podcaster or the hosting can't self-host or delegate on public instances).
Not every podcaster or hosting it's going to be able to implement a server where to store and manage the the comments. Or what infrastructure you have in mind?

At least with Mastodon we have the option to use private, public, (podcast)hosting or podcaster(self-hosted) instances. Depending on the control that we want to have. Reinventing the wheel is to much time and effort IMHO. And we have a user base.

Castopod :podcasting2: (npub19jk…pymw) and PI web implementation works, I think we just need some podcast app using the oauth[1] to allow replies in apps (the infrastructure is already there).

Apps could also have a Mastodon/ActivityPub account and use it to reply in name of their users while the implement the oauth option. Something like:

Yeah the follow workflow is a hurdle, but for a Podcast App (or hosting), I wouldn't mind if the app ask me for oath authorization to post messages (like mastofeed Alex Barredo 📉 (npub1edp…nnxc) does [1]) and let me write a reply (or write a new comment for a hosting). With this approach you don't need to implement the full stack of Mastodon.
As Transistor did with Bluesky, you could just use the API to read/write messages.

BTW, to follow my own words (walk the talk), I did implement on my webpages shows what Castopod/PI web[ActivityPub], and now Transistor/Podnews [atproto], does showing the comments [2], for a quick test I used [3].

la cosa es que le preguntaba "mucho" a ⁂ Kyva (npub1uzg…ggq3) cuando iba a tener su instancia migrada a un proyecto con mantenimiento, porque quiero intentar pasar un par de canales de Telegram que tengo de difusión a Meetiko, pero claro tienen mucho tiempo esos proyectos y yo muy poco libre y quería hacerlo cuando estuvieran las aguas calmadas.

Castopod es AGPL v3 [1] y se desarrolla en abierto. El producto en si, no tiene nada de la empresa madre sobre publicidad. Yo no lo descartaría tan rápido, siendo mejor que el 98% de las opciones que hay.

Dicho lo cual, si quieres el podcasting más puro posible te puedes hacer el feed a mano auto-alojado en casa, aunque me parece mucho nivel de exigencia.

También puedes usar (auto-bombo) mi proyecto en Hugo que te genera una web y un feed moderno :P [2] [3] y el resultado lo puedes colgar en cualquier sitio o auto-alojar.
