Little ‘Joyful’ Things

Forgive me dear reader, it’s been well over a week since my last post but for good reason. Not least, I got my first head cold of the season, which is typical as my Covid/Flu shots are not till the last day of October. Quebec is always late rolling out free shots for the elderly — having long since stopped offering them for anyone under 60 back in 2024. And yes, sadly, I now fall into that category: elderly. But the free part is mostly because of health issues.
Anyway, all this to say I am going to endeavour to get back to writing a Monday Little Things post or, as Sylvia has termed it now, joyful things.
I like the idea of writing 5 joyful things that happened in the last week. A good reminder the world is not completely gloom and doom 24/7. And that there are a few spears of sunshine and rainbows out there.
And what have I to be joyful about?
Waking up every morning, opening the curtains and, despite the weather, being greeted by a golden and flaming autumn vista. (A few more weeks and it will all be gone. But for now, I suck it all in.)
Monday last week was Thanksgiving here in Canada and, again, despite the weather me and mine had a lovely quiet day at home. We snacked, we napped, and watched silly animated movies for fun.
Two TV shows I’ve been waiting for also started this week: The Diplomat S4, which turned out to be totally binge-worthy, and then, Vision Quest. The follow up to events that started in Age of Ultron, and Wanda Vision.
Through the week I cooked us home cooked meals every night, from scratch. So Saturday, the OH treated us to brunch while at the mall, at my fav restaurant: the Cochon Dingue. They do the best eggs bene in the city. Mostly because they cure and bake their own ham and I can tell you, it’s to die for.
Also, while out Saturday, we went shopping in Uniqlo. I managed to score 3 great winter blouses and a gumshoe’s trench coat. I absolutely adore their clothes.
Simple, little things, but it’s always the little things that make all the difference in having a good day and a so-so day. Here’s to all the little things in life.
