I need to update my workstation as Deb11 has been eol'd. I really don't like the path Debian is taking so upgrading to Trixie is not inviting. Sadly, I still need function (Zoom) for job #2 so shifting to BSD may not be optimal mid-semester.

I'm thinking I may just tweak the repos to move to ELTS. That claims support to 2031. I'll probably be dead by then.

I recently came into possession of a monitor sound bar, a Zylux AX510, which seems to have been commonly sold as a Dell. I don't have the power supply, but according to a DIYer on Amazon, it runs off of +12V on the red wire. I knew there was a reason why I keep on my old power wall warts. Now let's just see if I have a 12V one.

I heard CoMaps was more "free/private" than Organic...I honestly don't know the specifics. But with Gxxgle pulling their crap come Sept I figured I'd download it now anyway.

However, I've not been able to get CoMaps to work on my phone reliably - OrganicMaps does. Probably just some security setting I left on/off.

Use the hamburger menu on the main map screen and select "Download Maps". From there you you should be have some indication a map is need of an update.

Is that not the method any more? I may be misunderstanding.

Oy. Of the 3 possible programs offered to assist in TAP to WAV and/or vice-versa:

1) Windows only, exe file.
2) Windows only can be compiled on Linux but for Windows.
3) Requires Node.js

Was hoping for a Linux compile-able are simple script. Didn't want to fight with Windows VMs and definitely didn't want to have to install Node.

Next step: Guess I'll install Node on a Linux VM.

On tonight/tomorrow's agenda: cooking garbanzo beans in a slow cooker (new to me). I'm doing this vs cans because of the CKD (less salt).<li>Rinse then soak 1 cup of beans in 4 cups of water (1:4 ration) for 8 hrs (overnight) in slow cooker pot.</li><li>Change water in pot to cover beans by 2 inches.</li><li>Cook on high for 2.5 hours and check for done-ness.</li>

So, I'm not sure who knows, but I'm the lucky person to have been gifted Adrian Riskin :anarchoheart2: (npub1l27…zpk4) 's [Commodore PET 2001](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_PET ) with the chicklet keyboard.

He even included a cassette (pictured) which states it holds [Microchess 2.0](https://archive.org/details/Microchess_2.0_1978_Jennings_Peter ) by Peter Jennings.

Now, Adrian said it held his own programs and asked if I could retrieve them if/when I got the computer working.

First off, I thought this was a **really** cool inclusion! I was not expecting a cassette from 1978...*and Commodore branded* at that. Seeing as it has, or had, published software I can understand it. Without my glasses, I thought Commodore had just provided a blank cassette with the system. 😂

Second, rather than waiting for the working computer (and cassette deck), I'm going to see if I can play the cassette in a modern cassette player (ha! modern, well a sort of) and record it on my workstation as a WAV.

So my question to the community is: 1) How might one play a WAV flle into the VICE emulator, or 2) does anyone have a lead on a WAV to PRG conversion tool? (That would be a cool utility to have!)

The browser should be all you need: the xml and xsl file. Alternatively, you can still ger v2.18 of the STIG Viewer as its still java-based (but no, not FOSS).

Personally, I use the browser. Then, if I want something I can add comments and such, I had a script which took the controls and put them into tiddlers for importing to a TiddlyWiki (though that was a few years ago).
