Double batch of my mum's Scottish shortbread recipe made. 1st half batch just out of the oven, 2nd half batch just in (although technically 1/2 a double-batch is a batch is suppose?)

I had an internal interview at my company for a new project. My current project is rolling down and I need to find a new team to join.

Was told a project was looking for a senior python developer so arranged a chat/interview with the project director and senior architect.

Hmm...

Not only is it NOT in my current office location and will need a slightly longer commute into busy Central London, more in the office than my current hybrid working and much more client facing....

... they are also heavily committed claude/Codex vibe coding.

So, er.. no.

Just no.

It'll not go down well with my personal director that I'll be turning this down but it's just not suitable for me.

Senior developer? Senior button pusher more like.

#AI #NoToAI #VibeCoding

I have long suspected that small talk is not really about talking at all. I mean, obviously it’s about talking, but it’s not about imparting information or saying anything of actual interest.

In computer networking terms, it feels rather a lot like a TCP three-way handshake.

https://www.alittleofnothing.co.uk/small-talk-is-tcp-handshaking-for-humans/

#Blogging #SmallTalk #Handshake

Harvesting some of our #compost for my wife to use top dressing some planters.

Good batch this. The combination of #Bokashi and crude #vermiculture has given us rich black compost this year.

Just needs a little sifting.

In reply to nevent1q…dtxj
_________________________

looking good. We use 3 compost Dalek bins, and pre-digest all food waste (mostly veg and fish skins.. no red meat or bones) using a Bokashi compost bin.

It breaks down really quickly. It's alive with red garden worms and ,like you, I use a staged process. Food waste to Bokashi. Bokashi to bin one. Bin one is turned and areated regularly changing the anaerobic Bokashi to aerobic compost. Heat picks up. Then rough sifted into bin two. After a while it's fine sifted into bin three and innoculated with Bokashi "tea" drained from the Bokashi bins.

It's a very alive system. Loads of worm activity and casts, full of nemotodes and useful bacteria.

We also collect leaves for leaf mold as a mulch on our allotment.

I am in need of a little advice from either #Scandinavian Users and/or #Photographers.

I'm off with my Wife to Tromsø at the end of the month for a week. I want to take my digital SLR with me (Canon EOS 500D.. a bit long in the tooth but it does me)

Two questions. I have neither a fancy heated lens nor massive battery pack (I do have a few spare batteries though)

If I'm going to be out in sub zero temperatures (hopefully photographing some Aurora!!) how can I stop (a) my lens freezing over and (b) the cold draining my batteries too quickly?

is this even going to be an issue? I have seen USB powered "Dew heaters"?? but they too need to be powered by a battery pack. I'm puzzled if they'd even be any use.

Please boost for reach.

All info greatly appreciated.

#Norway #Photography

And the rest... as they say... was history ! <3

I got made redundant in Aberdeen. My then girlfriend who I was having a long distance relationship with suggested I stay with her "for a bit" until I found a job/flat in London.

Turns out that GF became my wife. And I never left until we both sold our own flats and bought this house together.

19 years in a relationship, 17 living together, married for 15 !
