WHAT FAILS AND WHAT WOULD HELP IT PASS

What Fails

1. It Violates Protocol Neutrality

BIP-110 tries to enforce a subjective value judgment about what Bitcoin should be used for. It renders currently valid, fee-paying transactions invalid at the consensus layer. "Dislike does not equal invalidity," as Michael Saylor stated. If a transaction follows the rules and pays fees, it is legitimate, even if someone doesn't approve of its content.

2. It Centralizes Power

By moving anti-spam policies from the forwarding/ mining strategy layer to the consensus layer, BIP-110 changes the nature of the issue. It creates a precedent where consensus rules can be changed based on a subjective "spam" label. Adam Back argues this conflicts with Bitcoin's permissionless design: no one can impose their value judgments on others.

3. It Bundles Unrelated Restrictions

The proposal lumps together seven separate consensus changes. This means participants cannot support one restriction while rejecting another. This bundling risks stifling legitimate use cases and future upgrade paths.

4. It Closes Off Future Upgrade Paths

BIP-110 disables multiple future upgrade paths, including OP_SUCCESSx, the Taproot annex, and future witness versions. This "shuts down multiple upgrade paths at once," which should not be done without a very compelling reason.

5. It May Not Even Solve the Problem

Even if activated, BIP-110 may not actually block arbitrary data. A developer demonstrated writing a 66KB TIFF image in a single transaction without using the targeted features. Tools like DOG Mode are also being developed to relax BIP-110's restrictions.

6. Miner Support Is Virtually Nonexistent

The proposal relies on a User-Activated Soft Fork (UASF) rather than broad miner consensus. Miner signaling has never exceeded about 1%, far below the 55% threshold. No major mining pool supports it.

7. It Has a Consensus Bug

The activation client contains a vulnerability on late upgrade paths. A node that upgrades later may retain block data accepted under old rules that would be rejected under BIP-110, creating a split.

What Would Help It Pass

1. Respect Protocol Neutrality

A revised proposal must stop trying to enforce a subjective vision of "monetary purity." Transactions that follow the rules and pay fees should remain valid. A neutral protocol treats all fee-paying transactions equally, regardless of their content.

2. Unbundle the Changes

Each restriction should be introduced with its own precise reasoning and justification. A broad, bundled restriction risks stifling legitimate and future use cases without proper debate on each individual rule.

3. Preserve Future Upgrade Paths

The proposal must not disable future, carefully considered upgrade paths reserved for future soft forks. It should better preserve compatibility with projects like BitVM and Miniscript.

4. Prove an Objective Need

The proposal would need to define the objective "node burden" it aims to reduce and quantify the actual threat to decentralization. It must demonstrate how it would lower transaction fees and for whom. Currently, it lacks this data.

5. Gain Miner Consensus

A proposal with virtually no miner support and relying on a UASF lacks legitimacy. Any workable proposal would need broad acceptance across miners, node operators, and the ecosystem.

6. Respect Technical Consensus Process

Adam Back describes Bitcoin's technical consensus process as a form of "protective resistance." Any protocol change must undergo scrutiny from a large number of developers and protocol observers. This process is slow by design to prevent unproven changes from eroding foundational attributes.

The Principle to Uphold

Consensus rule changes should be rare, boring, and almost without controversy. They should not be used to solve cultural differences in a permissionless system. The proposal must serve the principle of neutrality by not punishing valid, fee-paying transactions.

These are not just technical adjustments. They represent a shift in the social contract of Bitcoin. Any proposal that restricts economic freedom on the basis of subjective value judgments should be taken as a warning sign.

The Man Who Walked Around The River

He had read the verse many times.

He knew about the garden. He knew about the trees. He knew about the gold in Havilah.

But he always walked past the river.

It seemed like geography. Like a detail that didn't matter. Like something you read through to get to the good parts.

He read the verse again:

What He Saw

He saw a river.

He saw provision before there was need. He saw abundance before there was lack. He saw life before there was death.

He saw that God prepared everything before He placed man in it.

The garden was already there. The trees were already growing. The river was already flowing.

What He Realized

He realized that the river was not just geography.

It was a pattern. It was a sign. It was a promise.

The river represented:

· Life coming from the source · Provision flowing from God · Abundance that doesn't run dry · Blessing that spreads beyond where you are

The Pattern

This verse tells us:

Provision comes before need.

The river was flowing before man was placed in the garden. God prepares what you need before you arrive.

God's provision is abundant.

One river became four. Not scarcity. Not barely enough. Overflow.

God's blessing spreads outward.

The river didn't stay in Eden. It divided. It spread. It reached beyond.

What People Miss

People see geography. They miss theology.

People see rivers. They miss the pattern of provision.

People see a garden. They miss the source of life.

John 7:38 — "Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them."

The river in Eden points to the river of life that flows from Christ. One source. Abundant provision. Life spreading everywhere.

The system wants you to believe:

· You're on your own · You have to fight for what you need · Provision is scarce · You have to earn everything

But the garden says something else:

A river flowed. Water was provided. Life was built in.

You were not made to survive. You were made to receive from the source.

The river is still flowing. The water is still there. The provision is still abundant.

This article is not against God.

It's against the lie that God wanted you small, scared, and trapped.

God planted both trees.
Both were good.
Both were available.

The problem was never the trees.
The problem was eating from knowledge alone—without life, without connection, without God.

You were not meant to choose one.
You were meant to eat from both.
Knowledge with life. Creation with alignment. Power with purpose.

That's the original design.

The Man Who Thought He Had To Choose.

He was told there were two trees.

One was for the perfect. One was for the curious.

One was the safe choice. One was the dangerous choice.

He was told he had to pick one.

So he spent his whole life trying to figure out which one was right. He analyzed. He debated. He worried. He was terrified of choosing the wrong tree.

He stood in the middle of the garden, frozen, unable to move.

Then one day he read Genesis 2:9. Not the way he had heard it. The way it actually reads.

Two trees. Both in the midst of the garden. Both available. Both placed there by God.

He realized he had been believing he had to choose one tree when God placed both trees in the garden.

He had been believing knowledge was dangerous when God called it good for food.

He had been believing life was separate from knowledge when God placed them both in the same garden.

That day, he stopped being afraid of the wrong tree.

He started eating from both.

The Decoding

"Out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree."

Not just two trees. Every tree. God created abundance, not limitation. The garden was full, not empty. There was no shortage. There was no scarcity.

"Pleasant to the sight, and good for food."

God created things that were beautiful AND useful. He didn't separate pleasure from purpose. He didn't make you choose between what looks good and what does good.

"The tree of life also in the midst of the garden."

Life was not hidden. It was not at the edge. It was in the center. Right where you could find it. Right where you could reach it.

"And the tree of knowledge of good and evil."

Knowledge was not outside the garden. It was not forbidden. It was placed there by God. The problem was never the tree. The problem was eating from it ALONE—without the tree of life.

The Question People Ask

"If God placed both trees in the garden, why did He say not to eat from one?"

Genesis 2:16-17 — "And the Lord God commanded the man, 'You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.'"

The Answer

Because the tree of knowledge was not the problem.

Eating from it ALONE was the problem.

"You are free to eat from any tree" — Abundance. Everything was available.

"But you must not eat from the tree of knowledge" — Boundary. Not because it was evil. Because they weren't ready.

"When you eat from it you will certainly die" — Consequence. Separation. Not punishment—protection.

The Hook

The serpent twisted it.

He made it about:

· "God is holding out on you." · "He doesn't want you to be like Him." · "He's keeping something good from you."

That was the lie.

God wasn't holding out. He was protecting.

The Truth

They weren't ready for knowledge without life.

Knowledge without connection = death. Knowledge without alignment = separation. Knowledge without purpose = destruction.

So God said: "Not yet. Stay connected. Eat from the tree of life first."

What People Miss

"God said no" — but He also said YES to everything else.

"One tree was forbidden" — but the tree of life was available.

"They were punished" — but they were protected from something they weren't ready for.

The Pattern

You were never meant to choose ONE tree. You were meant to eat from BOTH.

Knowledge without life creates separation. Life without knowledge creates blindness.

But Knowledge WITH Life?

That creates ALIGNMENT.

The Serpent's Tree

Was the tree of knowledge the serpent's tree?

No.

The serpent didn't create the tree. God did.

God planted it. God placed it in the garden. God called it "good for food."

So what was the serpent's role?

The serpent didn't create the tree. The serpent twisted the tree.

What God Said:

· "You will surely die" · "You are made in My image" · "I gave you both trees"

What the Serpent Said:

· "You will not surely die" · "You can be like God" · "God is holding out on you"

The serpent's tree was never the tree of knowledge.

The serpent's tree was the LIE.

The lie that you have to choose. The lie that God is holding out. The lie that you can be like God without God. The lie that you don't need connection.

She was told the garden was for other people. For the ones who had it together. For the ones who had not made so many mistakes. For the ones who had not been through so much. She was told she was outside the garden looking in.

She believed it. Not because it was true. Because she heard it so many times that the lie became the wallpaper of her soul.

Then one day she read Genesis 2:8. Not the way she had heard it. The way it actually reads.

God planted the garden. God put the man in it. The garden was not earned. It was given. It was not achieved. It was placed.

And it is not the way the system taught us.

The system taught us to read. It did not teach us to practice. It taught us to memorize. It did not teach us to test. It taught us to believe. It did not teach us to see for ourselves.

They gave us a sword with no blade. A weapon you cannot fight with. A tool you cannot use. They called it the word of God and they made it powerless.

Today, I sat in the church I went to. Feeling sick. Saddened at what all of us were never taught. Tears poured down my cheeks.

Because I recognize that I taught my kids this same stuff. The recycled stuff. With a little added difference.

I prayed that the man calling himself a pastor's ears would open and hear what I spoke. I even told him I love him. I wanted to give him a chance. Whether he chooses to see or not.

He did point himself out as a false prophet. I asked him if he spends 60 minutes teaching his congregation discernment and ways to test the spirits. He said his discernment kicked in.

I told him to go to his Bible and start testing for himself. Do not believe me. Start testing.

He was denying his own biblical text. I asked him why it is that when I started using the biblical text the way Jesus intended, the fog started clearing and I started becoming more clear.

He had no answer for that one.

None.

When he said his discernment kicked in instead of testing the scripture. When he deflected instead of answering. When he denied the text instead of practicing it. When he had no answer for why the fog lifts when the text is used the way Jesus intended.

He pointed himself out. Not with words. With fruit.

The fruit said enough.

He is not a false prophet because I said so. He is a false prophet because he refuses to test. He refuses to practice. He refuses to let the text change him.

The system wants you to believe that rest is laziness. That the sacred is in the hustle. That holiness is earned through exhaustion. But the text says the opposite. The seventh day was blessed before any human ever worked. Rest is not a reward. Rest is a gift.

People say "Miss me with that victim shit."

The thing is, people are sitting there not recognizing that there are real victims. And they have been silenced by people shaming them for speaking up.

But eventually, these people get tired of the injustice. And they finally speak up. And they say: "Fuck you, shaming assholes. We are going to get loud and we are going to be heard."

That is not victim mentality. That is victim saying "enough."

The system wants you to stay silent. It calls your voice "complaining." It calls your truth "bitterness." It calls your anger "unforgiveness."

But the prophets were loud. Jesus flipped tables. Paul called out false apostles. The martyrs did not go quietly.

So miss me with the shaming. I am not playing the victim. I am playing the witness. And witnesses do not whisper. They testify.

The Scripture

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves" (Proverbs 31:8). Not "stay silent so you do not look like a victim."

"I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent day or night" (Isaiah 62:6). Watchmen are not silent. They are loud.

"We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard" (Acts 4:20). The apostles did not stay silent to avoid looking like victims.
