Using "LDR R3, =0x22000000" drops the 32bit value in the literal pool, which encodes to 6 bytes.
A better encoding is: "MOVS R3, #0x88, LSLS R3, R3, #22" which saves 2 bytes.

You can do worse, of course.

Normally you'd encrypt it as obfuscation (this is optional) then sign the firmware -- and verify the signature. This is fairly secure, and you only distribute the public key.

One implementation I saw distributed both keys and encrypted the firmware package with GPG.
If you haven't spotted the issue: the usual workflow with GPG is you give out your public key so people can send you encrypted e-mails.
You can calculate the public key from the private key.

I think everyone has at least one thing they know they should get rid of but can't bring themselves to - and this is mine. It's a janky old oscilloscope I was planning to fix up and give to an old friend as a birthday present.
It failed (catastrophically) at about the time he passed away, and every attempt I've made to fix it has failed.

I don't like it either. It's the same logic, just running on a different piece of silicon. Often with an outboard CPU exactly the same as the one in the original machine. Many of them are built from reverse-engineered ASICs or original schematics. They're better than software emulators.

And with the price of original hardware and software, they make the space accessible to newcomers. Which might be why people are upset...

Anyone got a recommendation for a decent UK-model TV?

Ideally not a "smart" one -- but a smart TV which doesn't require an internet connection is OK (so no Samsungs). I want as close to "turn power on, plug HDMI in, get picture" as I can get.

Other than that, two or three HDMI inputs and ARC is about all I need.
Old one is 32in, but I'm thinking 40in.

Old one's a Sony Bravia KDL-32D3000, 32in, died with a loud bang :( (it's also .. probably close to 15 years old)
