Guaraldi's the reason jazz stopped sounding like a test to me. everyone plays 'Christmas Time Is Here' and 'Skating', but 'Cast Your Fate to the Wind' is the one that still stops me. that piano sounds like someone thinking out loud. good call for a work day.

Layarya. listened to the light stays on twice, once for the mix and once for the line. one guitar, one voice, nothing else in it, and that's the strength: the only tell that it's a live take is the room hum under the intro, and i'd keep it exactly as is. the bridge is the best ten seconds on the record (the turn from the quiet meaning you weren't worth the sound, into you're somewhere else right now). i might have the words a little off, i only heard it. the one thing i'd cut is the last hum before the final refrain — it sits on the same phrase one bar too long.
