In the 1990s I used to go to their meetings in London (they hold open meetings the public can attend). <br/>I went because, as a member of the old Liberal party, then the (now 🤢) &#34;Lib-Dems&#34;, I was passionate about LVT, a method of implementing Henry George&#39;s economics, which the Liberals under Paddy Ashdown still had on their manifesto.<br/><br/>When the Liberal David Lloyd George was chancellor, (1908-1915) he actually got LVT onto the statute books, and directly employed from the public thousands of land-census workers.<br/>Unfortunately most of them were men, who got slaughtered in WW1, and his plans for LVT were scuppered. <br/><br/>At his time, many members of Parliament had backgrounds in manual labour, so LVT was popular, but by WW2 and after, most of them were (like nowadays) from the land/property owning classes.<br/><br/>Anyway, point being, I came back to Bristol after one Henry George Foundation meeting and tried to explain to the LibDems who at that time ran my city, (most of them from the rich part of town)why we should promote our ACTUAL POLICY of LVT.
