Almost a full week since my fever broke and I'm still recovering from the flu. Fatigue, congestion, and breathing issues persist, although they are slowly (very slowly) improving. This is as bad as the summer flu of 2022, which was the worst I'd experienced in a decade. Happy I'm on the mend, this was rough.

my sub gets warm, but nothing extreme. I suspect the capacitor failure is age related, plus having been produced in 2006, it may be suffering from the capacitor plague of the mid 00s.

The speakers in my HT are ancient, but holding up well. 80s era DCM Timewindow 3s up front and 70s/80s Ohm bookshelf in the rear. When I bought the sub I also bought a set of Paradigm ADP-470v3, use them for the side surrounds. Music sounds really good and movies with really good surround mixing are fantastic on it.

Quick recap of my home theater subwoofer before work this morning. Picked up this circa 2006 Paradigm UltraCube 10 off neighbors last year, working, but these are prone to electrolytic capacitor failure and it was showing symptoms. With fresh caps it is back up and running in the home theater.

DC, AC sets were very rare in the mid 20s. I have an old battery eliminator kit from Antique Electric Supply when they still sold kits. I’ve also strung together 9v batteries and AAs to create the various required voltages. These radios are surprisingly low power for being tube based, they can run for hours with the right mix of 9v and AAs.

Main linux rig crashed, m2 ssd no longer recognized. Removed m2, installed into external case, tested, found one chip burning hot. Hacked on a giant CPU cooler and sat it in front of a fan. Drive is working, barely, slow at times, occasional errors, but all my data is backing up without issue.

I take fexofenadine in the morning and loratadine before bed. It helps some, but I don't like the side effects, I have less bad allergy reactions, but I also never feel good on them. I'm hopeful the allergy treatment I've been doing will mean less meds in the future.

They're terrible and seemingly unpredictable (unless you really follow the pollen/allergen trackers and live in a bubble). I've had them most of my life, but they got really bad when I was living in the south (thanks to the lack of winter). I'm so grateful to be back up north where I get some relief part of the year.

Allergies have really been kicking my butt this season. It wasn’t unexpected, I recall being really sick last year also. Don’t like the inflammation and brain fog it’s triggered, it makes it hard to work on projects, but it’s not as severe as it used to be thanks to the treatments I’ve been getting. Maybe next year the season won’t kick my butt so hard 🤞
