We ran nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmvqyw8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnzd96xxmmfdejhytnnda3kjctvqqsw9phh6ku9jxn2u80zvmx3lxzu6uplrefgfrq85krdan44nlxrekcjdwjlm (nprofile…wjlm) for the fourth time. Same workshop, similar format, a different group of designers in the room.

But after running this four times, the experience has shifted for us. The first workshop was an experiment while the fourth one felt like something we can read patterns in.

So instead of walking through the workshop again, this thread is about what those patterns are starting to tell us.

At the end of the workshop, we return everyone's seat deposit and let them pick: INR or Bitcoin (#ecash notes).

All 5 designers chose Bitcoin this time.

Across our four workshops, that's 20 out of 23 people who've chosen Bitcoin over INR, even after spending five hours seeing how unforgiving Bitcoin's UX still is. That consistency is hard to ignore.

And the thing we keep coming back to is what that choice means. We're not trying to convert or convince anyone to choose Bitcoin. But the consistency across workshops tells us something… when designers genuinely understand the problem Bitcoin is trying to solve, most of them want to engage with it.

Not as believers, but as people who now see the work that needs doing.

Every single workshop has run over five hours, and not once has anyone noticed the time passing until it's pointed out.

We've started paying attention to this because it keeps happening. Some of it is the format we built deliberately - mixing discussion, hands-on testing, and reflection so people aren't just sitting and absorbing. But many parts are things we didn't engineer.

Small groups, fresh problems, and genuine curiosity seem to have their own gravity.

The second half of all the workshops had the same vibe. By the time the wallet investigation ends and people start presenting what they noticed, we're doing less and less facilitating.

Participants are explaining things to each other - how a backup flow works, what confused them about a Lightning channel, why a specific interaction felt off.

We just clarify when something needs clarifying. Knowledge-sharing mostly happens horizontally.

In the third workshop, we started the post-it note exercise, where we ask the participants to write their biggest Bitcoin questions on the wall at the start of the workshop.

We don't read them out. They’re just there.

At the end, we ask people to come back to those notes and try answering their own questions. They can. Almost all of them. Without us giving them the answers.

Based on this we understand that the content we cover, almost covers the fundamental doubts people have about Bitcoin before they become interested enough to study more about it.

Watching designers investigate Bitcoin wallets without much guidance is also kinda satisfying because they don't just click around.

You can see them trying to map the logic of the interface - why this is here, what this assumes about the user, why something feels confusing. It's a quality of attention that's hard to describe but easy to recognize.

We built the investigation segment hoping to create this, and it’s working better than we expected.

The breaks turned out to matter more than the format suggests. Thirty minutes of unstructured time, and some of the most interesting conversations of the day happen there.

People asking each other questions they didn't ask in the main workshop. Trying to connect Bitcoin to work they're doing at their jobs. Talking about restaurants in HSR. We all loosen a bit, and the thinking continues on a different register.

PS: Glass bottled drinks are the best.

One of the things we've stopped trying to optimize is the size of the group. The first workshop had 9 people, then 6, then 4, then 5. We thought smaller works better because of high engagement, but then we worried if smaller meant the workshop format wasn't working.

But what we're seeing is that the dynamics work across these sizes, and small rooms have advantages we hadn't fully appreciated. The conversations are honest in a way they wouldn't be in a room of 30.

But that being said, we will give it a shot, to host a open-to-all workshop where we don’t filter who gets to join in. We’re excited to see how that turns out.

Some of the feedback from earlier sessions has stayed with us.

One participant said the transition from theory to practice felt seamless to them.

Another said they were intimidated by the four-hour runtime but didn't notice five and a half hours passing.

A third said it was the most engaging workshop they'd attended.

A fourth requested that we should have some protein bars to munch on during the workshop (and we did 😁)

We share these not as proof of anything, just as signals that something in the format is landing.

One thing four workshops have taught us is how much we don't need to say. We used to over-explain in the earlier iterations, stepping in to clarify things participants would have figured out on their own.

Now we hold the structure and let people work through it. Some of the best moments of the day happen when we're just sitting back, watching them teach each other.

What we realized early on was that this can’t be a one-off workshop so currently we’re also working on converting this intro workshop into a 8-workshop cohort where we will be taking participants from an intro to bitcoin to making their first contribution to bitcoin.

Alot of exciting things are in the works. We'll keep sharing what comes next.

So i saw this website a couple days back and was like "waaa, this would look cool if it were the bitcoin pizza day website" and that thought has now led to this...

You see, many people think Bitcoin Pizza Day is just a funny story about a guy who accidentally spent generational wealth on pizzas. Wealth that is worth about $800M today.

But for those of us in the bitcoin space, it’s much deeper than that. On May 22, 2010, Bitcoin made the jump from "internet experiment" to "real-world money." It was the first time two people reached a consensus that digital code was worth a supreme and a cheese pizza.

I’m working on this side project to preserve this history for the "normies." I’m building a clean, simple website that explains:
✅ The full backstory (beyond the headlines).
✅ Why that first trade was a technical necessity.
✅ Links to the OG Bitcointalk threads & the actual 2010 photos.

The goal? A site that doubles as a global presentation deck so anyone can teach the history of this historic day at their local meetups.

It’s so awesome to see people’s faces light up with that “aha” moment when they realize how easy and fast it is to get Bitcoin in their hands.

This is such a fun way to give people a taste of Bitcoin and self-custody while not intimidating people with the custodial/non-custodial wallets talk and discussions.

Shoutout to Bitcoin Design (nprofile…wu77) for organizing the designathon that sparked all this creativity! 🧡

I created these Ecash notes using brrr.gandlaf.com, which is such a fun tool. I’m hoping to see my designs officially featured there soon.

In the meantime, I’m working on making some Figma or Canva templates so other Bitcoin communities can easily create their own customized Ecash notes.
