Day 14 of the Mull Geology Advent Calendar. We're at the Doirlinn! The channel between Mull and Calve that dries out at low tide. At high tide you can sail through it if your draught is shallow enough! Rock in the Doirlinn is Jurassic mudstone - underlying the Tertiary lavas!

Slightly early, here is Day 11 of the Mull Geology Advent Calendar. And we are looking at much older rocks. The sandstone quarry above Bloody Bay . Rock here was quarried for the Lighthouse walkway at Rubha nan Gall. Industrial archaeology! See Alt-text on images.

Had a greeat little e-bike trip to the Tomsleibhe bothy up Glen Forsa in Mull. Its a bit of a long slog on foot but the bike makes short work of it. I've cycled there before, a few times - definiltey makes it much easier.

Nice views of Beinn Talaidh and other hills

And the old bothy books are still there, including the one with my entries in 1984! (29th may, and 2nd July) 40 years ago!
