I had surgery on the left one and the full recovery was so long (much worse than my cervical fusion a few months before) so I decided to wait for the right shoulder. I’ve had worse illnesses (like flu) but never was I ever sick on/off for 6 weeks. I got very little done during that month and a half. I used guaifenesin which seemed to help with the mucus that was descending. For me it was almost like a bronchitis that didn’t quite take fully. People who are able to help &amp; recommend means of support. <br/><br/>I pursued the dx because as I age with a number of serious health issues, I felt that autism is something I needed officially recognized when I seek healthcare or other forms of help. <br/><br/>For instance I would like it recognized that if I get very upset or emotional when pushed unnecessarily, it should not be grounds to throw me out of a hospital, on the street, in my pajamas and without money or a wallet, like happened to me in 2018 at Arcadia’s Methodist Hospital after an afib ablation, an entire night awake with chest pain and them presenting me papers they were insistent on me signing (after the fact) saying my stay may not be covered by insurance!! <br/><br/>The way they treated me was abuse and I should have been reassured and helped with a severe anxiety attack, not thrown out. The finder was a mason from the SF Bay Area, out in the NV desert for a bricklaying job. <br/><br/>Andy had been written on his shell so he was a pet, not wild. He took Andy back to his house in the Bay Area where Andy lived with him, then his daughter, for the next 74 years. <br/><br/>We became the daughter’s neighbors, then good friends in the 1990s when I worked in SF &amp; when she had to move into<br/>Assisted living in 2010, Andy came to live with us in SoCal, where he has been enjoying his retirement for the last 14 years. <br/><br/>Tonight is the beginning of his yearly brumation which lasts ~6 months, during which he is kept cool &amp; dormant. He neither eats nor drinks. <br/><br/>Here he is during his hydration bath &amp; subsequent air/sun drying. He then goes into his big cooler (for temperature stability) lined with towels where he will be in the dark the entire time, sleeping &amp; chilling, literally and figuratively. I check on him from time to time but no more than once weekly just to make sure he has reflexes &amp; is doing well. Life is very hectic, but making a lot of progress health-wise. <br/><br/>This new device is a godsend. I started using it 3 days ago. It’s a Continuous Glucose Monitor &amp; is providing me with my blood glucose levels continuously, in realtime. <br/><br/>I now see how some foods are causing glucose spikes &amp; if my glucose is too low, often without warning. <br/><br/>I have learnt more about glucose in 3 days than the past 63 years. Wow!<br/><br/>I am not sure how long these have been on the market OTC (this is not one by prescription) but I wish my doctors had recommended it. <br/><br/>I have also been referred to an endocrinologist even though I won’t be able to see him until Jan 2. <br/><br/>But in those 2 months I should be able to make useful observations &amp; better dietary decisions using these devices. <br/><br/>I’m logging all my foods and making notes in the biosensor app to identify what causes spikes and how bad they are. <br/><br/>I can also try combining foods in a certain order, to minimize the spikes. <br/><br/>I am feeling so encouraged. My GP aka primary care physician was not as helpful as I would have liked but my cardiologist who has a big stake in this recommended the endocrinologist, as diabetes affects the heart. Squirrels used to run by up and down the side of the building next to my balcony. I would leave the patio door open but one day they started coming in discovered I had nuts-in-the-shells in a bowl and proceeded to bury them in my couch. So I started closing the door till they stopped. Then left it open again until one morning I woke up and 6” from my face there was a big squirrel sitting on my radio alarm clock.
