The Grätzel cell (also known as a dye-sensitised solar cell; DSSC, DYSC or DSC for short) is used to convert light energy into electrical energy. It is an application derived from bionics, which, due to its function, is also known as an electrochemical dye-sensitised solar cell. This solar cell is named after Michael Grätzel (EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland), who invented it in 1991 and had it patented in 1992.

The large quantity of money (95%) isn't brought into life via printing through the central bank though, but through money created in the books of private banks only. Whenever a bank gives out a loan (expecting you to pay interests and hopefully never pay back), that bank can write in its books/database that it permits the transaction from an account (ex nihilo - it shall be - fiat). When the state prints money or lends money it creates money from nothing again, true, but it can actually help the export sector that the exchange rate doesn't go through the roof. Switzerland for instance, could have a way stronger currency, but we choose not to. With the money created out of thin air we pay ongoing interest payments or the base retirement funds. Because the world isn't one big happy federation with a money transfer in place, that helps rural areas to have a decent infrastructure, even though they don't generate as much money as the big cities, because of that, there will always be those differences and unadressed it will tear a construct apart financially, like it does within the EU. But for a country, having the possibility to level out the differences via Exchangerate influencing (via printing as you say or more often via lending money to banks and thus creating money from nothing) — that can actually help stabilize the financial system and the export economy, though it hurts the consumer, because he could have had even cheaper imports, but that would destroy the producing sector at home. So unless you have found a solution, that adresses different economical power - the fiat system is crucial.

Mhm. Not sure this post necessarily hits the bars you set. I am not even sure, where I have seen really deep thoughts lately, pretty sure not on nostr. Nostr sharer pictures, GM, GN, and some share there opinion like they are some self evident truth. I seldom get a reply on my replies, that challenge a world view, I seldom see a thought expressed, that goes deeper than two causal levels. I never see people wondering or investigating, advocating even for a more skandinavian form of governement, I here a lot of state bashing, I hardly hear a voice, that asks why certain states have just really happy people, I just hear voices stating, that all goes to shit and bitcoin is going to save everything. To me that's a riddle - the same riddle as, too many foreigners, lets kick them out, then we get our pride, wifes and jobs back again. I hear people talking a lot about how nostr is free and no algo is putting negative messages first, but they totally neglect the fact, that we humans, give attention anyway, we scroll and stop when something is cute as a cat or disturbing as trumps latest fart in our general direction. We humans are the algo! Das Buch auf welches 'die Bewegung' immer verweist, ist nicht frei zugänglich, die Erklärungen auf dem Netz sind für Sonntagsspaziergänger, die ihr Zeitungskreuzworträtsel schon hinter sich haben und noch etwas Zeit übrig haben. Die Memes sind keine Memes, sondern Zitate ohne Biss: Warum sollte ich jemandem aus dem Sofa holen mit "Freiheit gibt es nur von der inneren Bedingtheit." Was soviel bedeutet wie "Ich bin so frei, wie ich mir selbst zulasse?" Joa. "In der Reklame verbirgt sich die Herrschaft des Systems." Wer öffentlichen und privaten Raum einnimmt gibt den Ton an. Mhm. ok. Kann man nichts dagegen sagen, nur lässt es mich kalt, da jedem mit Verstand dieser Sachverhalt klar ist. "Der Mensch ist ein Wesen der Gemeinschaft. Ohne die anderen hätten wir keine Sprache, ohne die Sprache keinen Begriff von Ich." Wer läuft mit diesem Spruch auf einem T-Shirt rum? Mir scheint als ob ihr nicht erfasst habt, um was es wirklich geht in Politik, es geht um Beeinflussen der Gesinnung, Jeder Rechtsradikale (mit Verstand, also die Hälfte von denen) kann nämlich zu den Slogans nicken, eure Aussagen haben keine Trennschärfe. Er hingegen hat verstanden, dass es besser ist seine Kanten zu zeigen, dass es besser ist für ihn, sich abzugrenzen von dem was er nicht will, nämlich Wettbewerb mit Neuankömmlingen, Parteiprogramm bei denen ist schlicht: Wir wollen die Hackordnung nicht täglich ändern, das macht mir Stress, dir auch?

Versteht mich nicht falsch, ich bin nicht gegen mehr aufgeklärte Menschen in der Politik, aber Fakt ist, dass die Menschen tendenziell familien/tribe orientiert sind, was eigentlich nur bedeutet, dass ich die Hand nicht beisse, die mich füttert und Stellung verleiht.

Erwachsen werden kann bedeuten, dass man anfängt zu hinterfragen, weil man merkt, dass man auch innere Stabilität haben kann ohne die Gemeinschaft und ihre Rituale, ihre Zeremonien der Hingabe. Aber wieder gibt's ein Fakt: Die meisten führen fort, worin sie aufgewachsen sind, die anderen spüren sofort Reibungsenergie. Jobs werden verliehen an Personen, die willens sind sich unterzuordnen, oder sich über intrigieren hochzuarbeiten und den Chef zu neutralisieren. Andere bauen ein Geschäft auf und merken, dass auch sie Brotjobs annehmen müssen, ein Steinmetz wird im Jahr 99 Grabsteine herstellen und eine einzige Büste, besonders wenn er Familie hat.

Was brauchts? Mehr pragmatismus: Ein Name der sich nicht wie Geflügel anhört, Memes die beissen und den Menschen zeigen, wie wenig sie nach den Maximen handeln, die sie unterschreiben würden, und wie gut sie damit leben können, weil sie im richtigen Moment wegschauen, also zwar nicht wie die ca. 5 % der Menschheit sind, die keine Empathie fühlen können, aber dafür sorgen, dass keine Empathie aufsteigen kann, indem Sie jene Gedanken ausblenden. Weniger schlaue Sprüche "dezentrale Inhalte brauchen zentralistische Reichweite" streichelt den Inneren Parteifunktionär, aber rüttelt nicht wach. Die Botschaft ist klar für alle die nicht gleich denken, Klugscheisser, sondern etwas nachdenken, er meint wohl: "Macht Gott verdammt Werbung oder wir kommen nicht vom Fleck" und "bewusst aus den grossen werbefinanzierten Plattformen herausgehalten?", wer's glaubt wird selig, wenn ihr das Geld dazu hättet, würdet ihr jede U-Bahn damit vollpflastern. Jemand hat ein Sendungsbewusstsein und kann nicht dazu stehn?

Langer Rede kurzer Sinn, habe mich damit beschäftigt und sehe in euren/deinen Beiträgen Sinn und einen tollen Geist, mit dem ich gerne ein Glas Wein trinken würde, aber dem ich nicht zutraue eine Bewegung auf die Beine zu stellen, dafür brauchts Zähne.

For someone like me living in switzerland, in a country with a relative high standard in terms of providing a social net, but relatively poor in providing a legal framework against systematic exclusion of women in positions of power. When it's others, we still consent. We all seem to have a lacy, spineless fashist in our nature. The system of Aimé-Paris is a perfect system to show how geometric systems look. It's very simplistic in its aproach. Whereas other systems tried to leave out vowels to gain brevity - writers using A-P don't care whether K and G or P and B look the same, they don't care to even write the little dash to distinguish the sound. And it works!

The system gives more importance to the vowels used in french of course, so includes [y,ø] (IPA). But there are adaptions for English, some repurposing the [y] sound for th[θ], Some overload s for even for [ʃ] or [ʒ]. But the chart above shows the clever addition of 'quarter circles' introduced by Meysmans and Darnel. There is even a unused quarter shape (the convex shape of th) which could be used for [χ].

For the longest time I defined myself a martial artist doing Aikido amongst Aikidoka, Taijiquan amongst Taij practitioners, it seems I am very special in that regard, because Aikidoka are only Aikidoka when they do it, or they fall off the art in disgust after some time and hate the art, because it was all fake. Nowadays I do Mixed Martial Arts and I see so much useful stuff from Aikido, and I therefore use it, but I rigourously leave out the stuff, that just boosts the ego (all while claiming to be pretty spiritual). So I never left Aikido, I learned from it and went on and on and on. The journey of failing and correcting is so much fun, I would even consider that a spiritual path that teaches humbleness rather than gain or accumulation of "I am right, righter, ultraright".

That's who we are. A believe system made up to guide oneself in this world turns anything to "curious facts", when it suits them. I for myself am not a protagonist of a style. I know how to optimize a fighting system for a shorter guy facing someone with more reach, or vice versa. How to prepare a striker vs. a grappler. You must have a clear mind and internal strategy, what you wanna gain if you want to gain the upperhand (or simply not die in a fight). Designing a Shorthand system is not as dramatic, but nevertheless a bit the same and it's simple to measure. If you succeed to write as fast as someone speaks or at least dedicated pupils of yours do (mostly it were daughters and sons proving fathers invented system) or you don't. There is plenty of evidence that there are effective systems for each of the two main approaches:
- "Stringing vowels and consonants together and shortening as much as possible (Very simple approach, requiring abbreviation rules and dictionaries to be fast),
- or use absolute and relative Positioning of consonants to indicate implicit vowels and diphthongs or liquids (r,l) plus additional eclectic features such as shading that could imply r or plural s or soft or hard version of a consonant (bp, td etc.).

There is also plenty of evidence, that you can rely either upon very simple geometric (curves and straight) strokes or complex strokes, that in turn are made up of simple strokes, but gain its own 'optimized form', like s-t -> st or s-t-r -> str in a lot of germanic systems, n-t -> -ent,end in Gregg. German/cursive shorthands make a clear distinction, where a sign begins und where it ends, and connecting strokes are used to encode vowels, together with positioning, shading, stretching, accentuating, enlarging; thus they can use complex compound letters, that often resemble the primitive componants to extent, but slurred together, smoothened.

A lot of old texts can be deciphered, be it Tironian, Gurney, Mason, Taylor, Shelton, Pitman, Gabelsberger, Gregg or DEK. I have never heard someone complaining shading or positioning would prevent that, nor did I hear, that they could not find a Gregg dictionary to know what the abbreviation could mean. If we could not read Shelton we could not understand Isaac Newton as good as we do. If Newton was fine writing it, it is fine with me, why should I argue with him that todays systems are better then his? The proof is evident, he made science history with it, maybe he did not write verbatim, but sure it served him and mankind as a whole. Why fight over nothing?

As in mixed martial arts, there are some styles that are cleverly designed, but not unlike in MMA, some styles in shorthand are neglected right now, even though they provide immense wealth in technique and some have proven to work. (e.g. Karate was believed to be of no use at all, but now that some of the best have adopted the good and won with it, it looks different).

The in the anglophonic world unknown system Gabelsberger needs some time to wrap your head around, but it works and it's fun and even artistic to write in and it outperformed the competition at that time it was popular, ppl used it to write letters to their friends and did not care to write it again in normal script, because it was not only "shorthand" it was a full fletched replacement of normal writing! DEK is its descendent, popularized through the Nazis like Volkswagen, used today to record the discussions in the german senate verbatim and it is neither Pitman nor Gregg, but it sure does the job, right now, not in some fantasy land!

We have to aknowledge, that there are some systems that are overall more effective than others in the same domain of style, but there are at least 3 main domains, plain simple styles that simplify a word very much, before writing it, systems use a lot of techniques (i call them eclectic styles) and cursive styles, that try to emulate cursive connected normal writing, with a lot of complex signs, that go from top to bottom or in the other direction). One style certainly favors more the artistic side and another style more the mental side of a person. Some like to remember abbreviated words, some like to remember encoding rules, compound letters, special signs for Affixes and common words, some like to encode information via relative positioning, reading is easier first, because all can be encoded easely, but to be fast, you have to do same what the simple styles do, abbreviate, abbreviate. And you end up again with gibberish if you are not familiar and have no access to a dictionary.

What is shorthand?

Shorthand is a script enabling the writer to write faster then in Longhand, which is a way to refer to cursive writing or normal writing. Influencial people in the past who did not want their speeches get lost, like Marcus Tullius Cicero, senator in the roman senate, 'hired' his greek slave Tiro as personal secretary to note down what happened at the senate. To be able to write 'verbatim' (write as fast as speakers talk) Tiro invented special signs and abbreviations known today as 'Tironian Notes'.

This art to jot down the essence of a speech, was later either called stenography (stenos, greek word for 'narrow') or tachygraphy (tachy, gr. = speed). The former term is still used in germanic countries, the latter in countries speaking any latin languages.

Today shorthand has to compete with stenotypes (a type of keyboard, that allows chord-strokes, hitting multiple keys at once), widely used in the US and audio recording, combined with speech to text features, the most common recording form today. There are still some countries like germany that employs stenographers who write down per hand on notepads, making use of recognition tools afterwards and manual transscription. In India, they still use a form of shorthand, imported from the british opressors back then.

I want to communicate interest based, I am not really interested in message scrolling, but as you see - I do it for the first time in my life, because the rest of nostr is really not organized. My impression of the nostr community is sofar: You are all NUTS. I am sad that most of the communication on nostr elsewhere feels really unorganized, I am probably too stupid too make views based on tags and so on. I find an interesting comment and don't find the original message that led to the comment. Either me or all the apps, that should enable that are crap.

The most frequent words make up a lot of the language and thus are very important to learn, but we humans like to learn funny or very sad emotional stuff, it seems to stick much better in our brains when we can chuckle or shudder over a sentence.

NOW: Let's not make the task too difficult and try to formulate sentences using the 300 most frequent words, with the occasional use of a words ranked between 300-1000 or totally outside, that make some sense. And then we try to come up with the tasty ones, ok?

If your guy does not use encryption, it's not wise to trust him you are right. I am pretty sure, todays hawaladars use special software to make sure the ledger is not open. And I don't trust anything that is not changeable. That means you are at the merci of the one holding the majority of it. No wonder btc is so popular amongst billionaires. Biggest asset being, the have-nots can never take it from them, even though they ruined a country and have to flee their country from the mob. The will live carefree in the bahamas because nobody can freeze their assets :-)

The most important thing is not wealth. It's influence, getting heard, so you can maintain dignity. Bitcoin is probably something good in countries where every transfer goes over credit cards and you don't want or cannot trust shady hawaladar merchants.

Btw. why do you say JUST a TRUST network? Isn't that the most important aspect of money anyway? You trust, that tomorrow enough servers stand in a cellar, making sure transactions are validated, even though fewer and fewer can be mined, thus the costs of a server to maintain the system will soon be greater than the mining income. So in the long run you trust that a miracle will happen or a charity organisation will fund the very very very high energy consumption of bitcoin, which cannot be changed unfortunately, because it is rigid.

If I ever try out out cryptocurrency - it will never be bitcoin. It's a nice prototype that showed, it can work. Why anybody still holds on to it, I don't get it, so many better cryptocurrencies out there.

We swiss don't believe politicians have our best interests in mind, only the interests of their supporting lobby. That's why we have direct democracy. We let our politicians work out something, but vote over it, when enough ppl think it's total garbage.

Bitcoin let's you manage your own wealth? Do you have any say in the way Bitcoin works? Can you EVER change the algorithm to work different, if need be? Are things, that cannot adapt over time, last? I mean sharks are a specious that did pretty well over millions of years, three different toothrows are awesome.

But a monetary system that is fueled by states like Iran (where it is legal to mine it and the state uses it to survive the monetary embargo) and that can be traced so easily, especially when all other money transfer is via credit card and no more cash to hide behind. Try to buy something on the blackmarket with bitcoin, I am pretty sure you get a visit soon by the police.

I generally don't know why people are not thinking for themselves, I don't understand how somebody takes advice from the internet or wherever and can come to the conclusion, that protein shakes and bars could be considered food. In Europe nobody in his right mind considers packaged meals “healthy". The only thing of essence (for me) in this article is the phrase *question everything*. We in Europe call it it thinking. It might really be, that the country you come from, doesn't teach it's citizen anymore how to become a citizen, that can speak his own mind without having to resort to authorities that tell him/her what to think. As a Swiss we often get to vote on subject matters, not only on people who represent us - therefore it is only natural we are more politically involved and that's why we will never abandon cash. The only money, that is practically untraceble. We don't let the state use surveillance software that aggregates data from all possible sources, because we know we can afford to do the work in two weeks instead of 5 minutes, but we don't violate privacy rights. We are not perfect here though, even if we have the most autonomy and influence of all nations on this planet. We are still humans, which means we are lacy bastards too and like to transfer the thinking to demagogues, we are also mostly running behind CO2 and methane emission goals, but we tell ourselves, that we are a very green country. Reality is, that we buy stuff, a lot of stuff, which we can afford since we are a haven for money laundering or tax evation. That could be subsummized under *broken money*. But is money broken, or are voting systems broken, are checks and balances broken, are institutions that investigate money laundering broken, are people in power without dignity nor shame? In switzerland we still no shame. And it is very healthy shame. I am afraid bitcoin is just one way. Arabic states know an even better way: It's called hawaladar. It has worked for centuries and will work even if all goes to ruin. Whereas bitcoin is another way to speculate for those with money (a truly great way to evade taxes, which I also find very strange here you think paying taxes is bad, a poor swiss does not pay taxes, I am so lucky to live in a country where people can make decisions). So as a swiss - I have a totally different worldview. The problem in your country is most likely, that you have no say in any decision. That you never felt true democracy. I myself get outvoted in most decisions that I find absolutely important - making companies responsible for the shit they produce in states where they don't give a damn about the planet or peoples rights. But I still hope, that in maybe 30 years, when all the glaciers in the alps have completely melted, then we will vote for it...

Your article is well thought through. I just recently came to nostr because of substr the reddit like way to find a community and share theme based thoughts. In the random feeds all over nostr, I just felt really lost - how are people celebrating bitcoin, the way it is? As I understand nobody really sends back and forth bitcoins, rather secondary money, much like in the early days where gold gave national banks some reason to print money because it was backed by bitcoins. I don't fully understand the concept of secondary money yet, but I know for sure, every transaction in bitcoin takes 10 minutes (hardcoded, never more never less). So you can't use it as money in the sense 'small pocket people' use money. 'To buy a coffee to go' and then rush to the busstation is not possible... Also the amount of useless power consumption for something that was created from nothing (for me the very definition of fiat (lat. 'it shall be'), which was never constructed to be able to be used as real money used in everyday transactions and its use now is only to used for storing wealth of the wealthiest (who can afford to loose all bitcoins) and backing secondary money (which is new to me), the very idea to store each and every transaction since the dawn of time and to validate that every time in those 10 minutes, to me it sounds cracy and I worry that people with a conscience for the environment support it, not knowing, that the bitcoin mining process is a big big waste of energy. I like blockchain, I like public ledgers. But there are better ways. One way to look at it would be holochains model - I'd like people to investigate more the 'hawaladar' model - ancient banking system of traders who did not want to transfer money with their caravans. Essentially a double booking system, nothing stops us from putting that on a public ledger...

I do like the concept of theme centered communication. And I do like that not everybody can throw in his post, that he wrote first and then thought about. That's what i liked about reddit - you have a hobby and like minded people form a community. The downside was that moderators had too much power. If you said sth they thought to be threatening ( r/poetry for instance violates the intellectual property right of thousands of poets and they don't allow somebody pointing that out, worst thing is more than 100000 thousand people are complicit ). What I'd like to have is either some sort of "liquid democracy" where i delegate the moderation to someone, and some sort of process at hand, to deal with someone who we want to exclude from posting in the group. My own way as described in the rules of s/shorthand: A jury chosen by lot. So I myself - I restricted myself from impulsive behavior. If Substr could provide such forms of judgement processes (even if it is just an algo to assign random people for a role) - I would very much like that. I absolutely dislike reading a stream of garbage even if it is tagged. I came to nostr only because there exists substr. I never read any twitter like messages and all the other nostr-feeds i find trash. I have to find the good people first in the stream of logorrhoe?
