Dave Smith takes the 20-year war in Afghanistan as an example in the video: trillions of dollars spent, countless lives lost, and immeasurable damage. Imagine if the government couldn't print money for that war—if they had to tax citizens directly each month. It wouldn't have lasted long. The same applies to the 2020 lockdowns. As global liquidity dynamics continue to shift, Bitcoin's role in financial markets may only deepen.

I collaborated with Sam Callahan to analyze bitcoin’s correlation with global broad money supply.

The result was that it had higher directional correlation to money supply than other asset classes, at 83%.

We also looked at indicators for when bitcoin is more likely to deviate from liquidity. In other words, what’s usually going on in that other 17%. The answer, generally, is that the asset is coming down after major periods of extreme sentiment.

4. Public companies boost Bitcoin holdings by nearly 200%, reaching $20 billion

Publicly listed companies have seen their Bitcoin holdings soar by nearly 200% in a year, rising from $7.2 billion to $20 billion. According to Bitbo data, 42 such companies now hold 335,249 BTC, valued at roughly $20 billion. This marks a 177.7% increase from a year ago, when their BTC holdings were worth $7.2 billion.
