I think what all these projects mean when they say "serious contributions only", is "please don't send us slop". The Go project is going through the same thing -- many of the core contributors use LLMs in their daily work, but they do not want contributors to blindly send them LLM output they do not understand.

Considering taking the old Samsung Chromebook Pro, installing UEFI firmware on it and then either Linux or NetBSD.

Downsides: no way back (the device is AUE, so I cannot get a new recovery firmware), thus the device might be bricked. Also, I would need to open the device to remove the write protect screw.

The tram museum in the former workshop of the Töölö depot is small but interesting and free :)

I learned that when the first Valmet trams were introduced, there were three proposed liveries: the classic green/gold plus blue/white (like in Zurich) and orange/gray (which later became the colors of the metro).

Also, lines only have numbers since about 1950. Before, too many users were illiterate, so they used colors instead.

There is some new stuff in #Helsinki trams!

The old Valmet trams are still running, sometimes. I rode on one today! It was running as a line H (Historic?).

There were some tweaks to the network as every year, resulting in better connections.

The new Artic XL trams are running now! They follow the white/turquoise color scheme of the fast tram (line 15) instead of the classic green/gold though. They can go in both directions and have doors on both sides. The seats are yellow leather. They are nice and comfortable trams, but the windows are not aligned with the seats.

In the unified HSL color scheme, vehicles are white plus an accent color: blue (bus), orange (trunk bus line), turquoise (tram) or purple (commuter train).

There was this internship in 2001 where I replaced AIX on an obsolete RS/6000 with a hacked up Linux and ran a DNS server on it. That was all the experience I had with AIX.

The RS/6000 has a PowerPC 604e (PReP). At some point, I realized that the office printer *also* had a PPC 604e but a faster one 🤣
