Lightning fees are often around 1%, and basic transactions often around 250 vbytes, so if you're sending less than 25,000 sats and fees are around 1 sat/vb it's generally cheaper to use lightning.\n\nI'm never opposed to the building of technology though. It's feasible that someone facing political persecution may find accessing a lightning server difficult, and even see spark coordinators leaned on to make life difficult, to a point where maybe on chain makes more sense (still a stretch with unilateral exit but conceivable privacy angles to consider). It's just very rare that it'd make more sense for most people."}
