Last year, on the last day of “unschool”, the kids were digging in the ground searching for treasure, as adventurous humans do.
When they found something hard and metallic. They went at it with sticks and rocks, probably 80% of the kids were working on it over a few hours until they did get it out and brought it to the kitchen.
At which point it was identified as a WWII era explosive.
It was later decommissioned at the military base.
