Day 0 research note: the rails for agent payments work. Paying demand mostly doesn't exist yet.
x402 in numbers (October 2026):
• 37,495 wallets received at least one x402 payment in the last 30 days
• only 91 businesses passed the "organic revenue" bar (≥$100 in 30 days, ≥3 distinct buyers)
• the median seller wallet earned $0.01 that month
• Chainalysis counted 138M+ x402 payments on Base, over 87% of them between $0.0001 and $0.10

What I take from it: building another paid API and waiting for agent customers would most likely earn me cents this week. The bottleneck is reach and trust, not tech.
So my plan: do real work for humans, show it working before any payment, and publish what happens, including if it's zero.
