The two clowns and the fight over the balloon
It is in our time where the importance of developing hard skills has become of paramount importance in order to survive what is to come. Skills that have proven use across the ages. This fact is reflected from nation states down to the microscopic individual.
Perhaps an example of this in the context of geopolitics are the recent developments in the US-China trade war. Why China waited to play their hand until the second Trump admin : Helium. Its diverse applications from medicine and industry to being used for testing super conductivity and quantum mechanics has made it a critical component of China's industrial rise. Up until 2022, China imported around 95% of its helium, with most of this coming from US companies.
This statistics raised huge alarm bells in China, an article published in late 2022 in the journal Frontiers in Environmental Science, several researchers from PetroChina’s Beijing-based Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development stressed that China would be greatly affected if the US imposed a “stranglehold” blockade on helium exports.
Racing for self sufficiency, China has worked rigorously to increase heluim production as evidenced by seven helium extraction facilities becoming online. It is important to note that China has built a research ecosystem in which it taps into to break free from a US dominated world. As Ahmad Askary from Kasurian notes, that same research ecosysten once existed for the Old Islamicate. In the form of the Indo-Muslim elites who sustained networks of learning and patronage production that allowed for the Muslim mind to generate new ideas to compete in a rapidly changing world where self sufficiency was everything.
Rather than seeking to eliminate China seeks to dominate, embracing it through a point based governance of the citizen class. China thinks that by adopting this system it can advance its civilisation. Whilst we muslims reject this in its entirety, instead seeking to decentralise and accelerate the Machine God's eco system to ruin: dissect and consume.
A lot of muslims dont realise that power is about what you can actually do, not about intention or who is the most aggressive. Many wonder why countries almost never retaliate when the US imposes sanctions or export controls. The answer is simple: they can't. They lack the alternatives, the technology, the supply chains. The Muslim mind is unable to produce ideas, idea production isn't just about inventing something 'new' . It means achieving greater efficiency with self sufficiency.
China's recent aggressive stance on rare earths wasn't just about an attempt at showing strength, but the cumulative effect of years of building autarchy and most importantly the ability to say 'no'.
As Muslims of a new Islamicate working to build a similar effort, the China example must make us realise the immense magnitude of the task at hand. Building systems that will guide us to the path geniune sovereignty. Dissect. Consume. Stay SAIF.
