Regarding the proposed TikTok ban in congress: to give more power to the president does not mean he will only exercise it with his full attention, rather it means he will give this new power to his administrative machine and defer his authority to people that have time to "regulate" speech. I see this move as nothing more than formalizing exactly what the government did through apple, google, facebook and twitter with shadowbanning and deplatforming. If the threat is the government can shut down a platform with the teeth of law for allowing people to talk that aren't towing the government agenda, then the platforms like X/Twitter will have no choice but censor in a coordinated way like they did for Alex Jones, the sitting 45th president and many others.
This is certainly a trojan horse. Problem - reaction - solution. The problem is real, the reaction is engineered by the media, IC and democrats in power, but the solution they are presenting is against the interests of the American people and grows the power of the administrative state.
