Thing is, torrents still are most friendly for sought after content. Other, less desired data and content tends to get pushed down as seeders drop.
I doubt anybody needs to see this, but I'm posting it for myself as a way to process my thoughts and move on.
IPFS is a failed project.
IPFS does not end 404s-- someone must put great effort into pinning the file for it to exist.
IPFS is not censorship resistant. By default, gateways ingest a globally distributed CID banlist.
IPFS is not performant. Performance comes from strength in numbers, which is impossible if the software is a PITA to use.
Cloudflare discontinued their IPFS gateways.
Juan Benet does not talk about IPFS anymore.
Protocol Labs divorced themselves from IPFS.
IPFS Filecoin is vaporware.
R.I.P. IPFS. We have lived through yet another format war.
Torrents win.
