I just learned of this way to get ad-free Youtube but only on Android. You do NOT need root access.
Do NOT download any of these apk's from any source except the github page. Others are malware.
0) Uninstall Youtube (or disable + stop + clear data if you can't uninstall).
0.1) Disable Play Protect, enable install unknown sources
1) Download AND install Inotia fork of revanced microg latest https://github.com/inotia00/VancedMicroG/releases
2) DL AND install Revanced manager apk https://github.com/revanced/revanced-manager/releases/latest
