You can put different types of notes into different folders

You can associate notes through links and hashtags

(Or use folders, links and hashtags in whatever way makes most sense to you)

I've used Zim and Zotero before (both good apps)

So I gave it a go today

(This last point relates to Zettelkasten. I am implementing a Zettelkasten system but only as a part of my note-taking. The important point isn't the system itself but thinking about the different uses for notes and their different properties, and then implementing those in a structured way).
