In high school, the student council used to sell roses on Valentine's, delivered to recipients during class.
I mean I guess it's not wrong to sell roses, but in reality it turned into such a display of wealth and popularity that I wonder why the adults condoned it. I mean, they should have played Janus Ian's "At Seventeen" over the PA during delivery, just in case the roseless didn't get the message.
