I'm not saying I'm taking offense or anything, I'm just going along with what you're saying, I wanted them to see that there are various options for writing C++ code and they don't need to *just* use Visual Studio.
Last year I used Replit for my first level C++ class and that actually worked out really well because it was contained, but I also had them use the Shell in there to build and run their programs as well.
