Recently I stumbled upon the Amber scripting language ( https://amber-lang.com ) and while I at first thought nothing good about it I have now played a bit with it and I must honestly confess: I like it.
So, WHY?
Well, for people like me who are more or less glorified digital janitors who OCCASIONALLY code a bit and like to experiment with programming its a nice little new part in the toolbox to glue various Unix programs together and perform little automated tasks without delving too deep into BASHs ehm... 'peculiarities'.
Yeah, its just another level of needless abstraction, I get it, but to be frank: Everything above straight up Assembly is. And while I adore minimalism, suckless and so on, sometimes I have to acknowledge that we are way past the 1970s and we aren't coding on teletypes connected to a PDP-11, aren't we?
