See, this is a perfect example of objection-to-evangelism getting in the way of potentially-useful-technology!
Because it's increasingly used in many places (far beyond just browsers) as a modern intermediate form that can be very efficiently AOT'd/JIT'd/etc.
Some people also have an instant negative reaction to it being a 32bit environment, but that decision allows for some extremely efficient implementation of runtimes on modern 64bit archs.
