"ELI5 version of the borrow checker:
Imagine you have a toy that you sometimes play with and sometimes let your friends borrow. The borrow checker is like a strict parent who makes sure that when you lend your toy to a friend, you can't play with it yourself until your friend gives it back. Also, if you're playing with the toy, none of your friends can borrow it until you're done. This way, there's never any fighting over who gets to use the toy."
