It's not that I think I currently need the dual-CPU many-core Xeon versus the single-CPU equivalent -- it's that I'm on a roughly 10 year upgrade cycle, and I'm thinking ahead to five years from now, when having two 20-core CPUs in my main workstation will actually be useful for keeping me going *another* five years, as long as I can put more memory into it. A board that maxes out at 256GB of DDR4 ECC RDIMMs might be good to have, when DDR4 is obsolete and all the gamers move on to inflatable vibrator RAM or whatever is fashionable in 2029.
