About 18 years ago, I brought back cold smoked salmon from the old country (Norway).
After eating some, I promptly forgot, and left it in the fridge for 6 months. It was still fine.
This was unbranded, and bought in a fish store, and obviously properly cured.
On the other hand, I have seen the smoked Norwegian salmon from Costco grow mold after a month in the fridge, the Dutch middle man doesn't properly cure it.
