idk why my brain came up with this horror scenario but: Imagine if Windows logged file hashes of any file you download, open and save and periodically runs a comparison against a gov published list of "bad files" and just quietly deletes the files when a match is made - and, reports that, while it's at it.
Basically, imagine if the gov could just `rm -f` any file across a crapton of windows maschines at will.
again, no idea where that thought came from...
