It’s katydid season, y’all! May is the month they all come out and keep me up all night with their incessant sex-squawking. Here are 2 species on one fence post. Top: Common True Katydid. Bottom: Central Texas Leaf Katydid. The Leafydid is my favorite on accounta from the side it looks exactly like a leaf (because evolution), and also it has some pretty butch rust-colored accents.
