"content": "My radio project for today was to get an ADS-B receiver working on my phone to track planes. It was easy. \n\nI installed a 1090Mhz antenna from NooElec onto a RTL-SDR Blog dongle, plugged it into my android phone with a USB A to C cable, and installed 2 apps: RTL-STR BLOG driver (free) and ADS-B Radar ($2). It required minimal configuration. \n\nNow I am up and running, recieving position reports from aircraft up to 30 miles away. I will mainly use this when I am in the bush, waiting for an air taxi. I also will keep an eye on it during wildfire season so I know where air tankers are operating. I want to find out if I can receive military aircraft transponders as well. That might require a 978 Mhz antenna. It would be interesting to catch a flight of F-22's on their way to intercect Russki bombers in the ADIZ next time.\n#SDR #ADS-B #Radio #SituationalAwareness\nhttps://image.nostr.build/4d0056c46b574347c41c24e178e977fc105fcbd14c8f89ac371b508114ec8696.jpg",
