The thing with Bluesky is the users and devs do not want a return to 2012. They want a return to the 2010s as seen through the eyes of the leftists before the evil GamerGate and Trump came around. Someone I know called it a "retirement home" for ex-goons/wokes and similar in the same way that shit pandering to/targeted at boomers evokes the 50s/60s/70s and similar brackets a lot.

As bad as the fedi is being fractured and all, you can both get away with "federating bad actors" a lot more if you run Mastodong or something that's not Pleroma (and especially not Copebox). If you try to federate with the censored/Mastodon side and you run copebox, expect to get nasty messages like picrel targeted to you without naming you.

This is also the sole purpose of Akkoma at this point, as "lamb's blood" given it's far worse in many ways since Pleroma integrated it's inprovements into the dev branch that instances should be running.

The issue is Bluesky is turning into a hugbox as a result, and the people running it want exactly this. They want no bad people in the hugbox. They think their lives will improve if the bad people go away (it doesn't).
