Me too! When in Uni, I was in debate club, (because of course I was), and as a philosophy major, I could argue some really random stuff pretty convincingly, but the guy who was a law student who grew up to be an amazing attorney, could clean my clock in a debate...his skills were astonishing. Lawyers who plan to work in a courtroom are some convincing people!
That said; debate rules don't really apply when debating someone like Trump. He's not going to abide by the rules of order, he's not going to try and make sense, he's just going to gish-gallop around being Trump, and debating him as a debater is like trying to hurt jello with an arrow. It just seals up around it, like an orange eldritch horror.
