Thinking out the game theory that applied to the Lakers selecting Lebron's son Bronny with the 55th pick.
NBA only has 2 rounds of picks. So they are slim picking for teams.
A team can still sign an undrafted player should they go undrafted in the draft.
At first I thought, wow LeBron probably pressured them to use a pick on him, but I realized that other teams could have potentially drafted him, if the Lakers skipped him, and most likely LeBron would try and go play wherever his kid ended up for the last few years of his career
The Lakers want to keep LeBron, so they use the pick on his kid because it was the only way they could ensure LeBron retired as a Laker.
Side note
Everyone travels in the NBA these days, this is my old man 'get off my lawn' pet peeve.
