To be fair to your, the whole point of lighthouses is to warn you not to get too close. These days, my trips to lighhouses are mostly from land, with the UAS to get a seaward perspective. Back when I was sailing, I kept my boat in Conanicut Marina, or Dutch Harbour before that. A common day sail trip was "Once around Jamestown," so I'd often round Beavertail, and pass close to Castle Hill in the East Passage.
